FabLab Essex at THE CREATORSPACE Basildon Library


Essex FabLab meet up - after hours - at the Basildon Library, Creatorspace.  Suitable for Makers, Crafters, Digital Nomads and Jedi - anybody who likes to do things with hard or soft Tech and their hands (or feet !) .  Bring a laptop if you can, loaded with SketchUp Make, Scratch , Fusion360 if you can and anything else you want to talk about.  Please Note - very important - make sure you print this ticket and bring it with you as you will need to show it to the security guard at the front door of the library as the door will be locked. Ring the bell on the left side of the main entrance to the library in St Martins Square.  If you are coming by car contact the organiser and we will send you directions on where to park for free. We will be looking at 3D printing, Raspberry Pi's, Arduino Robots , embroidery Sewing machines , anything else you want to talk about or make - But  let me know by email at least one day before so we can bring the right people and equipment.  This week we will focus on our new CODO DOJO group. Essex Codo Dojo It costs money to run a FabLab and it would help if each person attending could donate at least £2 ( less than a cup of coffee and a far better treat for your brain ! )

We have a new Sevenoaks group meeting every Thursday at Cote Brasserie from 7:15-9am for the main purpose of picking up new contacts, introductions and business. Our groups consist of local like minded business people who meet over breakfast on a one business per sector basis. Parking is free (but can be limited) just though the main hotel entrance at New Road Avenue.  There is a hotel overflow carpark in Gundolf Road - there is a walk up some steep steps to reach the hotel. Both hotel car-parks say 'permit only' - park and register your car at the hotel reception. If that is full there is paid parking in the streets around and opposite the hotel. If you are parking at the Hotel itself, please make sure to register your car at reception. If you are arriving by train, the hotel is a short walk from Chatham station and about 20-minutes walk from Rochester train station. What Topics Won't Be Covered? We won't be covering how to build a Website, beyond recommending developers or specialist website builders if you want to DIY. If your site is having problems it will not be possible to do any repairs or work on specific issues for your website, hosting or software. Beginners Woodturning Course (2 Day)


Embark on your woodturning journey with our two day beginners woodturning course. Learn from your experienced tutor who will guide you through the tools, equipment and accessories you need to create delightful pieces from wood. What you will learn Encompassing the basics in woodturning, your two days will cover sharpening techniques, drilling on the lathe and parting off techniques. Furthermore you’ll discuss and learn finishing techniques to enable your designs to really stand out. Finishes include friction polishes, sealers, waxes and oils. With guidance from your tutor, you will gain hands-on experience throughout the course. World Handicapping System Workshop - West Malling Golf Club


World Handicapping System Workshop - West Malling Golf Club England Golf is working closely with The USGA and The R&A to help introduce the new single World Handicap System for the sport. Together with golf’s handicapping authorities they are developing a universal system which will come into force across the world from 2020. The second round of workshops are being run across England this Autumn, hosted and presented by England Golf representatives. We will provide further details of the World Handicap System using practical examples to explain how it will impact on your golf club and its members. We anticipate that places will be highly sought after, so will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Please note: Places are limited to three delegates per club so ensure you agree in advance who should be attending from your club. Interested in becoming the Rules Guru for your club? Changes are coming to the Rules of Golf which aim to modernise the game; to help you get up to speed we are running a number of workshops across England this Autumn. New Rules of Golf Workshop - West Malling Golf Club The Rules of Golf are changing on 1 January 2019 - and we want you to be in the know and all geared up from the start. To help you go into the New Year with confidence, England Golf is working closely with The R&A to make sure that you have all the knowledge and skills you need. We are running a number of workshops across the country this autumn, hosted and presented by England Golf’s representatives. These sessions will provide details of the new Rules of Golf and explain how they will impact your golf club and your members. We expect places to be highly sought after and they will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Please note: Places are limited to three delegates per club so ensure you agree in advance who should be attending from your club. VITSA Train to Teach School Experience Day


Are you or anyone you know interested in considering a career change and would like to consider training to teach? As a teaching school, Valley Invicta Teaching School Alliance, offers the opportunity to train to teach through salaried and non-salaried School Direct courses, available in the following subjects for 2019/2020 Art and Design, Biology, Chemistry, Computing,  Design and Technology, English, Geography, History, Maths, MFL, Music, Physics, PE, Religious Education and Primary General. These courses are delivered at Invicta Grammar School, Valley Park School, Maidstone Grammar School, the VIAT primary schools along with a number of other schools in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, University of Brighton, University of Sussex and the University of Greenwich. Bursaries are available for some non-salaried post dependant on the subject. A classification of a 1st class degree in Physics for instance, can attract a bursary of £26,000. Ideally you would have graduated with a degree with a 1st or 2.1 degree. For primary teaching your degree can be in any subject but for secondary it should be relevant to your chosen subject. You must have GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English (and Science for Primary courses). You will also need to sit and pass the Professional Skills Tests required to embark on the Train to Teach Schools Direct course. Interested? Then we would like to offer you the opportunity to further your interest in our Train to Teach programme by offering you an opportunity to join one of our School Experience days at Invicta Grammar School, Valley Park School and Maidstone Grammar School. The day will offer an opportunity to see all three schools in action, observe a number of lessons in each school, have an opportunity to ask further questions of department and senior staff as well as understand a little more about the teacher training courses. Please note this is not an open day for parents. The sole purpose is to offer those interested in a change of career and wishing to consider teacher training the opportunity to explore a teaching career.
