Age Grade Law Variation Trials Workshop - North Berwick RFC


For season 2018/19, Scottish Rugby will be launching Age Grade Law Variation (AGLV) Trials for the Mini & Youth game across Scotland. The variations are focused on creating a game that is player centred, development driven and competition supported which places enjoyment and inclusivity at the heart of young players experiences. The AGLV Workshop will upskill coaches on the laws to be trialled, as well Aims To provide understanding of the ethos and purpose of Mini/Youth rugby To provide information on the AGLV Trial process To understand the relevant laws at each age and stage Game coaching and application of the Trials Age Grade Law Variation  To look at coaching focus' for each age and stage Outline The AGLV Workshop will last approximately 2 hours and will involve a combination of indoor (30 mins) and practical activities. 3 educators will be present as the practical will be split into P4/5, P6/7 and S1-U15 groups. Coaches are advised to bring writing materials/tablets and wear practical training clothing (coaches will act as players for the practical - a walkthrough of the various aspects of the laws) appropriate to the weather conditions.  Registration for this workshop is FREE Our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Workshops are organised by approved coaching centres and delivered by Scottish Rugby accredited Coach Educators.

Shark Life Twilight 5km


Shark Life returns to Easglescairnie Mains for our first ever ADULTS ONLY 5km race.  This event is open to over 16s only and will incorprate 5km of entirely off-road terrain with 20+ of obstacles to challenge all abilities.  The course will be marked and marshalled throughout so you can focus on having some fun!  The event will start at 7pm, meaning we will be running in the twilight, so a headtorch is a must! No torch, no run, it's very simple. Some of the route will be through very sheltered, secluded woodland and it may still be summer but it will be dark! Please expect full water, mud, walls, crawling, and a whole lot more!  Enter the Friday night run, or any of our adult only waves during this race weekend and received 20% off your families entry to any child wave over the Saturday or the Sunday. All racers will receive; - Finishers Medal  - FREE entry into our October trail run - 20% off entry to Family Sharks on either Saturday 1st September 2018 or Sunday 2nd Septemer 2018 - Free access to race photos  Entry Fees Over 16 Pricing – Early Bird Entry up to 30/6 £20, Enter 01/07 to 15/08 £22.50, Enter after 15/08 £25 Race numbers will be given out on the day, please arrive at least 45 minutes before your wave time to allow you to collect your number and warm up safely before you start. Autumn Shark Life SATURDAY


Shark Life is back at Eaglescairnie for another fun filled, obstacle packed weekend.  This time we are offering two different distances, a 3km and a 5km. Complete with water, mud, climbing, crawling and running we have created something that is suitable for all ages and abilities. Please note that the 5km route is open to over 8s ONLY.  As with all our family OCR events, adults can run for free with their children. We ask that all under 5s be accompanied by an adult but if you're children are older then please feel free to run with them as well, we are all about family focused fun!  All finishers will receive a Shark Life 2018 medal but please note that this race is not timed and there are no prizes for first over the line. This is about fun, not speed.  Race numbers will be given out on the day, please arrive at least 45 minutes before your wave time to allow you to collect your number and warm up safely before you start. Please be on the start 10 mins before you start as we want to make sure you are briefed, warmed up and ready to go. LT Soy Candle Making Workshops @ LT HQ North Berwick


Join Designer and Candlemaker Laura Thomas (Laura Thomas Co) at her LT HQ in North Berwick for an afternoon / evening of soy candle making. MAY - AUGUST BOTANICAL WORKSHOPS: Create your very own soy scented candles with dried botanical flowers and learn all about the art of candle making in this workshop.  SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER WORKSHOPS: Create your very own soy scented candles with an array of over 20 essential oils and fragrance oils from and learn all about the art of candle making in this workshop.  NOVEMBER + DECEMBER CHRISTMAS WORKSHOPS: Create your very own Christmas soy scented candles with traditional Christmas and Wintery scents and learn all about the art of candle making in this workshop. Laura shares her insider knowledge, secrets, tips and tricks of the trade that will enable you to create and learn about the art of candle making.  Take away oodles of inspiration, pick Laura's brains and discover all you need to know about all things candles. Arrive to served Cake (daytime classes 9.30-11.30 am) or Fizz and Nibbles (evening classes 7.30-9.30 pm), then sit back, relax and learn about wax, wicks, fragrancing and burning your candle correctly.  Finally get to work making your very own soy scented candles to take away with you. Workshop Content: Description of commonly used waxes and their pros and cons. Introduction to Soy Wax. An overview of the different types of wicks. Discussion about the different scent options of fragrance oils, essential oils and dried flower petals (May - August Workshops). Step by step guide to the process of producing a container candle including measuring correct quanities of wax and scents required. Choose, mix and measure your own scent combinations. Create and hand pour your own container candles. Discussion on how to fix 'problems' when making candles. Workshops are roughly 2 hours long.  Take away with you two container candles which will have dried botanical flowers within (May - August Workshops) and Christmas scents (November + December Workshops) and a wealth of knowledge on your new candle making skill.
