PoppIn & IPSG with ALFie and BESSie - Dunstable

What is it? A PoppIn is a gathering place where people come together to experience friendship, learning, support, and fun. An IPSG is a session where we focus on one of our specialist areas of anxiety, including trauma and stress, or addiction, including OCD and eating challenges. We use the ALF Peer Support values and principles to provide a safe, welcoming and harmonious space where we can all share, grow, and develop at our own pace, and amongst our peers who have travelled the path of recovery from life's challenges, and want to walk alongside others whilst coming along their own path.  As well as having experienced their own life challenges, our facilitators have qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Coaching, and Peer Support. We have connections with local businesses who will come to PoppIns from time to time to run workshops, share their knowledge and expertise, and offer guidance. Who is it for? Those who are:  Recovering from Mental/ Emotional health challenges or Addictive behaviours, those who are wishing to return to meaningful occupation, those who have felt alone and wish to feel connected in a supportive community, or those who wish to volunteer within the local community. Please contact: Emma on 07791 520388 [email protected] Visit: www.alfcic.org for more information.

These modules will give participants the basic skills, awareness, confidence and knowledge required to volunteer. Once you have completed all four training modules you will receive a volunteer passport, which gives you access to our volunteering newsletter crammed full of exciting features and exclusive volunteering events and the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of Charities and voluntary organisations in Slough. You can really make a difference!       Boundaries and Confidentiality Boundaries set the limits of what is and is not acceptable and helps to protect ourselves and service users by clarifying what types of behaviour and language will or will not be tolerated. It helps us to look and sound professional. Confidentiality relates specifically to the protection of private information acquired through volunteering by staff and involves protecting and actively promoting the dignity and privacy of service users.
