Trying to teach your child how to cycle?  Not having much luck?  Well Professor Balance and his unique teaching style will soon have your child on two wheels - or your money back! What do you need to know?  Bring your child's bike if they have one.  We have a selection of loan bikes available to help your child learn to ride depending on how things go.  Subject to demand loan bikes are available.  If you are bringing two children, please have an adult for each child. Bring a snack and water.  Don't forget some chocolate - for Professor Balance! You can choose between two tickets - primary aged pupils (£30 - no win no fee) and pre-school (£15 fixed). If your child (except pre-schoolars) is not riding on 2 wheels you'll get your money back (less Eventbrite fees). Children must be accompanied by an adult.   If you are able to remove your child's stabilisers that would be great - but bring them along with you to the session - as Professor Balance will be introducing your child to the 'Stabiliser Fairy'.

Wellbeing Weekend - Mindfulness, Pilates and Lomi Lomi Massage

Join us for a non-residential wellbeing retreat. Held over two days in a beautiful, peaceful setting this retreat will nourish your body and soul. This retreat is offered by Gillian Booth - Acorepilates; Susie Hooper - Pause & Breathe and Gill McKinna - Eden Lomi Lomi Massage. Over the two days both Mindfulness and Pilates practices will be offered. These will be suitable for both beginners and those with some experience. There is also the additional option of having a Lomi Lomi Massage. A variety of Mindfulness practices will be offered - the central themes focusing on being in tune with the body and breath and so learning to appreciate the current moment, no matter what it offers. So much of our lives are spent dwelling on the past, or planning ahead - this is our time to appreciate the here and now. There is no better way to start focusing on your body’s needs than with Pilates. This whole body conditioning programme focuses on strengthening, lengthening and toning the body. Classes over the weekend will aim to work on breathing techniques, spinal articulation, joint mobility, core strength, stretching and relaxation. All classes will be suitable for beginners and those at intermediate level. During the weekend there will be an opportunity to experiment with small Pilates equipment, go deeper into movement and have some fun! This is an exciting opportunity for you to connect with your body and awaken the energy within. A Lomi Lomi Massage is a traditional Hawaiian massage aimed at restoring balance within the body, mind and spirit, and so perfectly complements both Pilates and Mindfulness. Themes over the weekend will centre on balance and wellness. During the two days there will be the option to attend both mindfulness and pilates sessions. We hope to be able to have a mindful walk on at least one day, as the surroundings of the Barn are truly beautiful. We also hope to offer individual sessions / discussions about both Pilates and Mindfulness. Each day wll run from 10am-4pm. Lunch is provided. There are yoga mats, meditation cusions and blankets provided. However, you may wish to bring your own along for your own comfort. Within the Barn we remove our shoes, so you may wish to bring thick socks or slippers. Please wear clothing that is comfortable enough to bend and stretch in. The price for the 2 days is £130 without the massage, or £150 with this. Unfortunately there won't be enough time for everyone to have a massage, so please do get in early to book this. There is a lower price for concessions - this is for people in receipt of their pension and students only - please only book this rate if you have valid identification to prove this. We also have the option of booking for a single day - just select the Saturday or Sunday ticket accordingly. Please contact to discuss subsidised rates - don't let the cost put you off - we really want this to be accessible to as many folk as possible - please contact Susie on [email protected] to discuss further.

The Battle of Bannockburn Anniversary Guided Walk

On the anniversary of Scotland's greatest battle join Dr Murray Cook on a guided walk, following the route taken by the Scots to the English camp and Day 2 of the Battle, which has no commemorations and fanfare, just mud, blood and destiny. Learn about the tactical decisions taken by Scotland's greatest King, a military genius and innovator, who learned from Wallace and won Scotland its freedom. Date 2pm Sunday 24th June Meeting Point Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre (Stirling FK7 0LJ) Tour Duration 3 hours, finishing back at the Visitor Centre Prices Adult £10, Concessions £8 Family (2 adults and up to 3 kids £25)  The Battle of Bannockburn, which took place over two days in June 1314, is the single most important conflict in Scottish history and yet the contrast between them could not be greater: for Day 1 which is commemorated at the National Trust Bannockburn Centre, Robert the Bruce had assembled his biggest ever army, which trained and drilled over land which he had prepared over weeks and months. He knew where and when the English were coming, they fell into his trap and he gave them a great big bloody nose! But that was all, Edward II was still about to relieve Stirling Castle, most of his army was fresh and unbloodied and the Scots were tired.  Bruce's position as king required victories, without them he might be deposed, after 18 years of conflict the country needed peace, Scotland needed to beat the English, but to push ahead for a second engagement against fresh troops, who outnumbered the Scots two to one, on ground they did not know and had not trained on was surely madness? If Bruce died or was captured, the cause died with him and this time there was no Wallace to rally the people. Could Bruce pull of the biggest gamble in Scottish history to win its greatest prize?
