Vamos! 2018

VAMOS! returns… This new event was added to Perthshire’s music calendar in May 2017 and is back for 2018! The event is the arrival of a new type of music weekend with the travel and music industries joining forces to bring a live American Style music extravaganza featuring artistes from the UK, Europe and the USA. Rock and roll, country, blues and soul, rockabilly, tribute artistes and more will be performing at Vamos! which next year is being held at Dewars Centre in Perth on the Bank Holiday Weekend 4th – 6th of May 2018. Although moving to a large indoor venue for next year – VAMOS will still feature multiple stages and host around 40 acts over the weekend. 2017 saw the likes of PJ Proby, Los Pacaminos featuring Paul Young, Johnny Lee Memphis as Elvis Presley, Eve Graham of the New Seekers, Marmalade, The Pacemakers and around 40 other GREAT acts appearing in Perth, and 2018 is set to do the same! Laughingly nicknamed “Glastonbury for Geriatrics” the organisers are keen to promote travel to North America – as the States are famed the world over for their music and VAMOS brings a taste of that to the UK.  The weekend kicks off on the 4th with a party night featuring music from the 1950s-1980s. There will be dancing and jiving to hits made famous by the likes of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and country hits from artistes such as Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and George Jones. Saturday and Sunday includes a full programme of live American Style music with top artistes performing throughout the day and night. Prices are £209 for three nights bed and breakfast in a Perth hotel, & weekend pass, £75 for an Early Bird weekend pass, £25 for an Early Bird Friday ticket and £35 for Early Bird Saturday and Sunday tickets. FOUR ON THE 4TH - CHARITY LIVE MUSIC NIGHT

Four great local bands plus guests Hosam Alabrash & Friends come together for a night of live music to raise money for Safe Passage and Perth & Kinross Community of Sanctuary The bands: The Kalaharis  The Sandemans Cover Daddy Real Life Entertainment The Kalaharis are an indie rock band based in Dundee, Scotland and have influences in bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen and Twin Atlantic. The Sandemans are a young five Piece indie-rock band from Perth, Scotland, headlining gigs around Perth, they're influenced by early punk, 90's Brit-pop and noughties indie! Cover Daddy are 4 Scottish based musicians with a passion for fantastic floor filler cover songs of various genres from the swinging 60's to present day anthems. Real Life Entertainment are a 5 piece band who play a mix of punky-fresh psychedelic rock. With 2 lead vocalists, a lead guitarist and a rhythm section consisting of 2 brothers the band have a lot to say with punctuality in both lyricism and feel Raising money for: Safe Passage: Safe Passage exists to help unaccompanied child refugees and vulnerable adults find safe, legal routes to sanctuary. We have reunited unaccompanied asylum seeking children from France, Greece, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Syria and Sudan with their relatives. For those clients who arrive in the UK, we also support their transition to a new life. Our organisation is powered by Citizens UK – a group that empowers community action. We combine the skills and resources of our staff and supporters to open doors, establish precedent and advocate for change. We are determined to find a way to give everyone fleeing persecution safe passage. Perth and Kinross Community of Sanctuary: City  of Sanctuary is a movement created to build a culture of hospitality for people seeking sanctuary in the UK. Its goal is to create a network of towns and cities throughout the UK which are proud to be places of safety for people seeking sanctuary and helping them operate in their local communities. Perth & Kinross Community of Sanctuary is a newly-formed node in that network currently named the ‘Provisional Committee of Perth and Kinross Community of Sanctuary’. The committee is currently undertaking research into those organisational resources that are relevant to the needs of refugees and asylum seekers (and some other non-British communities) in Perth & Kinross and attempting to determinethe number and diversity of refugees and asylum seekers (and some other non-British communities) in P&K. It is also in the process of obtaining charitable status. Members of the ‘Provisional Committee of Perth and Kinross Community of Sanctuary’ include two activists who are part of Perth Against Racism.
