Eden Project Communities Exchange Hub Meetup (Perth)

Perth Exchange Hub Are you inspired to make a positive difference in your community but don’t know where to start? Do you spend your time trying out interesting ideas, from small and simple to big and bold, that aim to improve the happiness and wellbeing in your area? This informal free event, our first one in Perth, will bring people together who want to make a positive difference in their local community.  It’s open to anyone who’s already involved in a community project, would like to get more involved or has an idea for their own project. Whether you have lots of experience or are just starting your journey, you’re warmly invited to come along to discuss new ideas, share your skills and meet other people who are also active in the local area. You’ll learn more about our annual campaign The Big Lunch, contribute to shaping the development of network/hub in your area, find out about other opportunities to keep connected and leave with new connections to follow up locally.  Refreshments will be provided. About the Networks/Exchange Hubs We’re developing Networks/Exchange Hubs across Scotland because we know the strength that comes from togetherness. We’re doing this by hosting on-going meetings/meetups in your area as well as providing opportunities to take part in video calls so that people working on different projects can support each other, and exchange skills, knowledge and experience. We also develop local and national partnerships to support these networks and hubs, so welcome participation from organisations who would like to get involved.

Architectural Conservation CPD: Principles & Best Practice

ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION CPD Principles and Best Practice for Traditional and Historic Buildings If you are looking to refresh your conservation knowledge or encounter historic buildings as part of your work portfolio, but have limited knowledge of the best conservation practice to employ when approaching a project involving traditional buildings, then this is the CPD programme for you. Traditional and historic buildings are an integral part of Perth and Kinross's built environment with many of its population centres, such as Perth, celebrated for their rich historic character. Whilst valued, historic buildings are often considered difficult to maintain, expensive to repair and their traditional methods of construction complicated to refurbish and align with modern building regulations. This series of CPDs will give you the tools to help unlock their potential. The 2018 PROGRAMME 25 April: Repairing & Restoring Historic Masonry 30 May: Climate Change Adaptation for Traditional Buildings 27 June: Energy Efficiency in Traditional Buildings 29 August: Developing Appropriate Lime Specifications for Traditional Buildings 26 September: Damp in Older Buildings 31 October: Lead Work in Traditional Buildings About the Programme This 6 session programme of CPD has been put together specifically with architects, surveyors, trades and construction professionals in mind, offering comprehensive introductions with practical examples on a range of essential topics. It runs from Spring to Autumn with a break over the school summer holidays and takes place at a regular 1 hour lunchtime slot at the end of the month. Sessions will be delivered in Perth by industry accredited professionals. 'Architectural Conservation CPD' forms part of Perth City Heritage Fund's ongoing work to encourage the regeneration of Perth's historic buildings using traditional materials and skill and in accordance with best conservation practice. Perth City Heritage Fund is managed by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust and supported by Historic Environment Scotland.
