Resilience

We are delighted to bring to you a special screening of Resilience – a one-hour documentary film that investigates the science behind what happens to children when they experience adversity. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance misuse and depression. ACEs can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behaviour. This film helps describe the adverse effects of divorce, abuse and neglect, explore the role of practitioners and communities in minimising the impact of ACEs and share how cutting-edge science is supporting a growing movement that can help the next generation break the cycles of adversity and disease. At Coastal, we want to be part of that movement and invite you along to the screening and a Q&A session afterwards with staff from the ACE Support Hub in Wales. Together, Wales can tackle ACEs – join the conversation, join the movement.
