October Rugby Camp


This is North Walsham RFC's October Rugby Camp. It is being run over 3 days from the 24th to the 26th October from 10am till 3pm. You can book 1, 2 or all 3 days. The camp is open to girls and boys from under 7's through to under 15's. Whether you play for North Walsham, another club, school or have never played rugby before this is the place for you over the holidays. With top coaching provided in a fun and safe enviroment lead by our own James Knight. Fresh Fruit and juice will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Suitable training wear required, don't worry if you dont have a gum shield as they will be available to buy on the day from the club. Kayak Nature Adventure Trip on The Norfolk Broads...  Discover the wildlife of The Broads National Park in a whole new way. Take part in one of our guided kayak tours on the River Yare and adjoining broads around RSPB Strumpshaw Fen nature reserve. Each tour starts with a walk through the reserve’s woodland and wetland habitats, once on the water the kayak tours combine wildlife watching with a water-based workout as you paddle along the river yare and then duck off into the hidden reedy jungle of Surlingham and Rockland Broads. Tours last approximately 2.5 hours (time on the water) and are led by qualified and experienced British Canoeing river guides. Kayaks are tandem two-person kayaks of a very stable design, perfect for beginners. Booking is essential as places are limited to 8 per tour. Please note that due to the nature of this trip, the lower age limit has been set at 10 years old and must be acompanied by someone over the age of 18.  It is advisable for you to bring a change of clothes, a showerproof jacket (should the weather be inclement) and to come in trainer type footwear All of our Guides and Leaders are qualified and certified by British Canoeing and have extensive experience in delivering these kinds of activities.

Creatures of the Night


Are you brave enough to venture into our woods in the dark? There’s nothing to fear, just the wonderful sounds of the creatures of the night. Find out what goes crunch in a barn owls lunch before venturing out on a spooky, family walk you won’t forget in a hurry! Return to the campfire to toast marshmallows and enjoy a hot chocolate. Strawberry Walks


Please arrive at 10.30am for an 11am start. Walks finish at approx 2pm. Thurne Mill Open 11am-3pm. £10 pp includes strawberry cream tea, circular walk + guided tour of Thurne Mill & Wind Energy Museum.  (minimum booking of 2 to go ahead) What you can expect: Meeting up at the Wind Energy Museum, where there is ample parking, we take a short stroll down to the river and walk along the picturesque river bank to Thurne Mill. At Thurne Mill (wind permitting) we can get the huge sails turning impressively and silently in the wind. There will also be a chance for you to take a look inside, take photographs and be given a brief talk on its history and our plans on how to keep it turning long into the future. Following this, we can take a leisurely stroll along the footpaths through Dewbeck woods back to the museum for a strawberry cream tea. If you have any energy left also included in the price is an informal guided tour of the Wind Energy Museum plus a chance to look into our exhibition/education room. Don't forget to wear sensible shoes and warm clothing for our winter walks. Remember your hat and sun cream for our summer walks. Pack your camera and binoculars too!!!!  What’s included in your day: Walk to Thurne along the picturesque Riverbank. (The circular walk is approximately 4.5 miles). Demonstration of Thurne Mill working (Wind permitting) Talk on Thurne Mill's history Stroll along the footpaths through Dewbeck woods back to the museum. Please bring appropriate clothing for the weather on the day.
