Code Club (Carnforth)

at Carnforth Library every Saturday during school term time Code Club is aimed at children aged 9 – 11 years (Parental consent required), but we are happy for younger children to come along and have a go, if they have good computer skills. Come along to the library to learn how to code. Learning to code is an important skill now we’re living in a digital age. It’s not just enough for children to know how to use technology. They should know how it works and how to build it too. Learning to code doesn’t just mean you can become a developer - it strengthens problem solving and logical thinking skills, and is useful for a range of other disciplines, careers and hobbies. The sessions are really informal and drop in, so if you can't make it in at 9.30. then just come along when you can! Coding is fun Coding is creative Coding is empowering In this 'digital age', children spend an awful lot of their time with video games, computers and devices. But, they are only passively consumingdigital technology. With coding, they take control, literally creating their own entertainment and learning how digital technology 'ticks' in the process. Coding helps thinking Coding helps learning Coding helps problem solving Coding helps employability This event is free, no ticket required. For more information, please contact us

#NatWestBoost #Women in Business Kendal

Annette and I would be delighted if you could join us for this our last WIB meeting for 2018. If you've not been before it is an informal event. A meeting of like minded business women where you can network, share ideas and make new business colleagues. There is no fee or membership and it is open to customers of NatWest and non customers. Light refreshents will be available and please don't forget your businesscards. Our first speakers will be Ashley Holden & Michelle Foulerton from Green House Floristry. A very experienced duo that have just entered into a new business venture together in Kendal. They are not on the high Street and are offering a floral workshop with a difference.  They will be talking weddings, parties, festive fermentation & Pickling, wrapping and wreath making!  Our second speaker is Cheryl Jones, MD of nxoCommunications. She earned her marketing stripes in the corporate world, working at Makro Wholesalers and Iceland Foods. Based in Manchester for many years, she is now located in North Lancashire and runs a business which serves the SME community, offering expert advice and guidance on strategic marketing, branding and communications. A local lass, Kendal born and bred, she is now perfectly situated to help businesses in the South Cumbria region who are looking to improve their employee communications and connect better with their customers. Have you ever wondered why you find some people easier to get along with than others? Effective communication builds a cohesion team in the workplace which ultimately leads to happier, more productive employees. Our styles of communication are varied and we can often lack the self-awareness and understanding of how other people perceive us. Cheryl is a certified facilitator of Everything DiSC Workplace Profiling and will be sharing with us some fascinating insights into styles of communication. This fun, interactive session will include a card game - with a twist. With the aim of helping you to start to build more effective relationships, she will share with you some of her vast knowledge of communications and how it can help your business to enrich its situation.
