Beginners Woodturning Course (2 Day)


Embark on your woodturning journey with our two day beginners woodturning course. Learn from your experienced tutor who will guide you through the tools, equipment and accessories you need to create delightful pieces from wood. What you will learn Encompassing the basics in woodturning, your two days will cover sharpening techniques, drilling on the lathe and parting off techniques. Furthermore you’ll discuss and learn finishing techniques to enable your designs to really stand out. Finishes include friction polishes, sealers, waxes and oils. With guidance from your tutor, you will gain hands-on experience throughout the course. What you’ll take home A bud vase A toadstool A bowl Certificate of attendance How to - ‘Course details’ Items you take home can change depending on the resources and materials available on the day. Additional information You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety brief and a breakdown and review of the equipment you will be using. No woodturning experience needed. Small Engineering Lathe - Introduction Course


This introduction to the small lathe course is run over two days with a maximum of five students. Whether you’ve never used a metal working lathe before or have not touched one since you were at school, our experienced tutor will have you confidently cutting metal in no time. What you will learn Aimed at the complete beginner, this course will take you through the setup and safe use of the lathe. Over the two days you will complete a project that incorporates a variety of techniques. From how to correctly plan a project and how to turn with precision to turning between centres and screw cutting. By the end of the two days you will have the confidence to safely use the lathe at home. AHDB Supply Chain Conference 2018


AHDB Supply Chain Conference 2018 The business of communication Following 2017’s inaugural AHDB Supply Chain Conference at Kingston Maurward College, the 2018 conference will look more deeply at primary producers ‘doing business’ integrating more into their supply chains. Keynote world-renowned speaker Dr David Hughes will look at the world food market and relevance to UK producers. Andrew Freemantle from Kenniford Farm, near Exeter, will share his business experience adding value and building a brand. Paul Harris, CEO at Real Success, will lead a participative session to hone communication skills. Finally Euryn Jones, Regional Agriculture Bank Manager with HSBC will share his views of the future agricultural economy and how the Bank views business propositions adding value and moving into the supply chain beyond the farm gate.

Woodturning Boxes - Introduction Course (1 Day)


Reveal the mystic art of the turned wooden box on our introductory course to woodturning turned boxes. Learn from your experienced tutor how to achieve professional results with their step-by-step guide. What you will learn On our one day course you will learn how to select and prepare your materials and how to mount them on the lathe. You’ll be guided on the safe use of the range of tools used to achieve the finished box. Furthermore, you will learn the methods of sanding and polishing on and off the lathe. This course will introduce you to the turned wooden box. You’ll be provided with the skills which started our tutor on the road to making countless valuable and beautifully crafted boxes. The course emphasis is on practical turning with a high degree of hands-on tuition. This is a ‘hands-on’ course, each student being able to work at their own pace. The course will be lead by the tutor who will both demonstrate and explain the techniques to the group as a whole and individuals as required.
