Resilience Documentary - Tonbridge

The award-winning documentary Resilience has reached the UK! Join us for the first screening of this film in Kent and help our whole society to wake up to the impact of childhood trauma. The findings of the Adverse Childhood Effects study, published in 1998, have revealed the most important public health findings of a generation. Scientists now realise that extreme childhood trauma is one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression. Join us to find out how that was discovered. A panel discussion will follow the screening with Dr Mark Kerr (Outcomes of Care), Dr Simone Raenker (the Owl Therapy Centre), Dr Pooky Knightsmith (In Our Hands mental health education), and Beverley Webb (Step Forward Coaching). They will help us tease out the specific implications for Kent, and consider the changes each one of us can make. This screening is being organised by two mothers with a passion for improving children's lives. The film will appeal to a range of audience members from parents to professionals in Health, Social Care, Education, Mental Health and Policing. We hope we can harness the power of this film to start a snowball of small changes to improve the lives of children across Kent. All proceeds to go to West Kent Mind.
