Open Access swipe card library induction session at WINTERBOURNE LIBRARY


South Gloucestershire Libraries will be open for additional hours when staff are not present. Now you can click and collect your reservations, browse and borrow, make use of the PCs, printing and free Wi-Fi for longer every week. To use this service, you must have an Active Leisure and Library card and attend a short induction session (allow 30mins for this). The induction will cover:  · The door access panel and how to use it with your existing library membership card · Tour of library and equipment and services available · How to leave comments/queries for staff · How the library closes at the end of an Open Access session and what warnings to expect · What to do in an emergency including location of emergency exits, position of customer phone and how to use it Please bring your existing library membership card with you to the induction session as well as proof of address, such as your driving licence or a utility bill (no more than 3 months old). Safeguarding Children - 5 hour Safeguarding Lead Training


Are you the designated safeguarding lead for your organisation that works with children or young people in South Gloucestershire? This is an opportunity for you to be trained about Safeguarding Children and to know your roles and responsibilites as the safeguarding lead person. The Safeguarding Children Board have funded places for you so that together we can offer safer groups for our children and young people across the local authority. It is being hosted by Sue Wheeler who has been commissioned by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board to deliver this training. They have approved this course. FAQs What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? The is parking at the venue. Will there be refreshments at the venue? Lunch will not be provided. Their will be light refreshments available at certain times during the training What can I bring into the event? Please bring with you a pen/pencil and some paper to make notes on. Will I get a certificate? Yes. Each attendee will recieve a certified certificate at the end of the course. Do I have to pay for the course? No. The course is free. It is being funded by The Safeguarding Children Board.

Sultans of String

Suitable for all, everyone welcome!  For a fun party atmosphere, fantastic music, with the added bonus of burning a good amount of calories whilst you let your hair down and dance your cares away.  Great for toning your body too.  My aim is to make fitness fun and have you wanting to come back for more.     If you are attending my Zumba® class for the first time you will be asked to complete a short Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire. Children over the age of 11 years are welcome to attend this class.  Younger children are more than welcome to sit and watch and join in as they wish.  Please note this is an adult class and therefore there will be adult approriate music and moves. Teaching time is 55 mins. FAQs Is there parking available? Yes, there is a large car park at the school, which is free of charge. What's a Loyalty Card? You will receive a Loyalty Card the first time you attend a class.  Collect a stamp each time you attend a class and for every 5 stamps you collect you will receive your 6th class free.  Each class costs £4.00.   What is a Sports Pound Voucher? This is a Voucher which entitles you to attend my Zumba® class issued to you via Sports Pound in conjunction with South Gloucestershire Council.  Please check here for further details of how you may be eligible to receive these vouchers.  This is a new initiative to encourage people back to exercise and one which I will be supporting. http://www.southglos.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/sports-clubs-and-centres/sports-development/sportspound/    How can I get a Free Class? Easy, introduce a friend to a class.  Book on-line using the "I'm Introducing A Friend" ticket and you will receive your class completely free.  This is for friends who have not attended a class in the past.   Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, you don't need to.  We have a list of everyone who will be attending the class.   I'm worried about walking into a class by myself for the first time? Don't be, join us, you won't be alone for more than the time it takes you to get from the door to the hall.  I take pride in my classes being friendly and suitable for all.  If you have never done Zumba® before then don't worry, I will give you a quick run-down on what happens at a Zumba® class.   How can I get the most out of my Zumba® class? Basically, GO FOR IT!!!  As you get used to the moves and routines you will be able to put in more effort. Remember that the more effort you put into your Zumba® class, the more you will get out of it. Feel free to sing along, shout, whoop at us, anything goes, add your own funky moves, go nuts!!!  The more you go for it, the more calories you will burn.  Simples!!! Just as there are ways to make more of your class, there are also ways for those of you who have problems with your joints or other ailments.  You have the choice of doing a lower impact moves, please talk to me if you need advice.   Please bring plenty to drink (water is best), wear comfortable clothes with trainers or dance shoes.  If it's cold outside make sure you bring outer clothes to wear home.
