HUG’s Outdoor Cinema Events 2018

Back by popular request and sponsored by NFU Mutual! Bring your picnics, chairs, and a bottle for an outdoor cinema experience at Newark Castle. If you don’t fancy bringing a picnic, we have The Peel serving freshly made yummy pizzas and the Foodbox who specialise in traditional toasted craft breads packed with a variety of responsibly sourced local savoury fillings. Both are very reasonably priced and both were incredibly popular last year. We have Top Gun for you on Friday the 17th August and The Greatest Showman on Friday the 31st August. Hopefully we will get some lovely weather but just in case it does rain, we don’t allow umbrellas to be used during the film as this restricts the view. You can however, bring them to use before the film starts and purchase one of our lovely ponchos (or bring a waterproof jacket) for when the film is on. Age restrictions do apply depending on the film (12 for Top Gun and PG for The Greatest Showman) and we ask everyone to be mindful of those around you. We aim to start the film around 8.20pm or depending on the time of sunset. We do not tolerate any negative behaviour. This will result in being escorted off site and a future ban from the events. We want you to have a fantastic time and to create great memories whilst supporting a fantastic cause. Events such as these help towards getting support to anyone who needs it following the loss of a baby at any gestation and for that, we thank you for supporting this event. We reached thousands of people last year all over the country and as far as France and America. Thank you all for your support for last years incredible outdoor cinema events. Let’s have another fantastic time this year! Unfortunately, refunds will not be available due to the event being held in aid of www.helpusgrieve.co.uk The event will go ahead rain or shine and will only be cancelled due to high winds or storms. Thank you for your understanding. See you there!!! Team HUG Gates open at 6.30pm Enquiries to [email protected]

Southwell, Nottinghamshire, Wild Food Foraging Course Walk

The beautiful town of Southwell provides a variety of foraging delights to discover. It's a fantastic place to learn about the edible plants and mushrooms growing all around us in the UK in late summer. This foraging course walk is easy to reach from Nottingham, Mansfield, Newark, Lincoln, Leicester, Chesterfield, Worksop, Grantahm, and Derby. In this historic town, you'll discover how to identify some commonly growing foods to forage for, how to avoid poisonous lookalikes, and hints on where to look. When we meet up, we will go through the basics of foraging before heading out over the town's range of habitats, including woodland and parkland. During the walk, I will introduce you to a number of edible species, giving you tips on harvesting, correct identification, and recipe ideas. You'll also get to sample a range of pre-made wild food tasters and preserves along the way. Exact meeting location given after booking. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the course.
