Code Club @Vivacity - Scratch for Beginners (Central Library)

Get lost in space, have a chat with your computer and build your own racing game! What? At Code Club young coders (recommended ages 7-11) will learn how to program simple games and animations using the visual, block-based programming language Scratch. Our Code Club volunteers will be on hand to help them work their way through exciting coding projects which will gradually extend their skills and increase their confidence. The Code Club curriculum consists of a set of projects with step-by-step instructions, but children are equally welcome to bring their own ideas, projects and creativity! When? NEW DATES ADDED Code Club at Central Library runs every other Saturday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM. Sessions take place on the following dates:  3 March 17 March 14 April 28 April 12 May 26 May 9 June 23 June 7 July The sessions are aimed at complete beginners - no prior experience of coding or Scratch is required, but your child should be able to read instructions and have basic keyboard/computing skills.  To book a place Places for Code Club are free but limited!  A maximum of two places can be booked per booking. Tickets are only required for the young coders - parents/carers are welcome to stay and help out (and learn!) without needing to book a place. Please book for each session your child(ren) will attend. Should the Club be fully booked, your child will be placed on a waiting list, and you will be contacted as soon as a space opens due to cancellations or non-attendance.

Bereaved Staff in the Workplace : Employers Training

About the Course It is estimated that around 1 in 10 of today's workforce is currently or has experienced some form of major breavement, often resulting in lower levels of productivity and increased absentiseem and over 50% seriously consider or go on to leave the organisation.  This course, looks at grief and the physical and emotional effects on the bereaved caused by the primary loss, and how a supportive employer can aid the grief recovery process for both parties.  Who should attend?  Employers, Line Managers and HR personnel, who would like the confidence and to be able to support their employee should they suffer loss. Ideally, you will be able to review your support policies.  Course Delivery & Content The course is delivered primarily through a PowerPoint presentation, with some group work and real life workplace experiences provided by widows and widowers About the Presenter  The course is presented by Andrew Mayze, a former small business owner with a corporate background, who was tragically widowed at 45, leaving him with two children.  Registration  Registration commences 30 minutes before the course, to facilite a prompt start, and to allow for networking oppurtunities.  Dietary Requirements If your course is a full day, then we will be arranging freshly prepared food with the venue, should you have any special dietary rfequirements, please inform us via email [email protected] beforehand.  Questions  If you have any questions - please don't hesitate to email [email protected] or telephone 0845 388 1 377

The Unique Mumpreneur Networking Event

'The Unique Mumpreneur Networking Group' is for women who run their own business and want to grow it or want to start their own business with support all whilst raising a family. The networking group will give you the opportunity to meet with like minded women regularly and build relationships with others that are on a similar journey to yourself. Jo, the founder of Serenity Loves, Hallmark Carpets and Flooring and now The Unique Mumpreneur, knows from experience just how important it is to surround yourself with other women who 'get' you. Women who concentrate more on lifting you up, women who genuinely want to help you to succeed and women who want to help make your business the best it can be, allowing you to live the life you want. The Networking group will allow you in person to put your business in front of many other women, share experiences, ask or offer support, build confidence and decrease that feeling of isolation and overwhelm. Apple Regional Training Centres deliver courses to build the skills and confidence of educators to use Apple technology inside and outside the classroom. They are a community who share best practices and inspire excellence through teaching with Apple technology. Being selected as an Apple Regional Training Centre highlights our commitment to facilitating training for teachers to develop skills and build confidence to use Apple technology in the classroom.  Apple Regional Training Centres create a community to share best practice and support teaching staff to attain Apple Teacher status, a professional learning programme designed to support and celebrate educators. Teachers from across the region can attend courses to build their knowledge and skills using technology in the classroom and earn badges to achieve their Apple Teacher recognition. Across the UK and Ireland, the goals of all Apple Regional Training Centres are to: • facilitate training opportunities for teachers to develop skills using Apple technology in the classroom • promote Apple in Education and share new products and innovations with educators • build Apple Teacher across the region • share best practices, build community and inspire excellence.
