The VICI Language Academy French Certification Ceremony for Children

Dear Parents, On Saturday the 19th of January, we will be celebrating the children's work in their French Class for our Annual French Certification Ceremony.  This will be an occasion for you to:  Come and observe what the children have achieved over the last few months Speak to their teachers about the modules covered and learning objectives Check out the various activities and resources used Discuss methods developed to bring children as close to bilingualism as possible! Please try your utmost to attend.  Learning a foreign language is a long-term commitment and children need to be praised and rewarded along the way to keep their motivation up. Times are as follows:  Infant Leaders: 9-10am Junior Leaders: 10-11.30am Leadership High: 11.30-12.30pm The format this year will be slightly different:  Three teachers will be available in different classrooms (apart from the little ones in the Infant Class who will stay in one room to avoid too much disruption to their routine) and children will move around in small groups so the sessions are interactive and each child has a chance to really show his or her skills, while parents will also have some time to talk to the teachers.  One teacher will help children navigate around the classrooms and Mme Danon will be around to answer any questions you may have. At the end, children will, of course, be presented with certificates and prizes! BOOKING is essential, please. Our French Kids Team is very much looking forward to this event!

GONG BATH AND SOUND MEDITATION

An offer to find some 'me time' - there is nothing for you to do except to come and lie down, chill out and be bathed in the beautiful sound waves of the Paiste planetary gongs and other sound instruments.  There is no water involved and you will receive the sound via your ears and every cell in your body offering you the opportunity to find a space of deep relaxation.  Your body will resonate with the frequencies produced by the various instruments and as your brainwaves are lowered you enter into a meditative state, the vagus nerve is stimulated and activated resulting in a positive influence on the immune system, your health and well being.  The gongs facilitate a fast track to the Theta state - 20 minutes of Theta relaxation is the equivalent to four hours sleep - Bliss!  It is a unique experience and once you have tried it - the gongs are hard to resist. Please arrive by 6.15pm so that we can be cosy and settled for a prompt start at 6.30pm.  Latecomers will not be able to join the group to avoid disruption to those in a relaxed state Wear loose and comfortable clothing Bring a cushion for your head and extra bedding to lie on for extra comfort on the floor - a sleeping bag, sunlounger cushion or duvet are acceptable. A yoga mat and cushion are provided Also bring a bottle of water for re-hydration after the gong bath Avoid alcohol and heavy meals before the session After the gong bath - drink plenty of water for 24-48 hours to flush away toxins that have been released Avoid alcohol immediately afterwards Please contact me diretly if you have any questions after the session - [email protected] As a precaution, gong baths are not recommended for pregnant women in their first trimester or for those who experience sound induced epilepsy. Please contact me before booking if you have tinnitus or have recently had an operation. There is plenty of parking at the venue and if this is your first visit to Amethyst Studio - it is recommended that you have a look at their website for directions - amethyststudio.co.uk We are looking forward to sharing the gongs with you again in 2019 and to welcoming newcomers. Buried Deep - Shamanic Journeying Workshop

Winters can be both hard and cold and the joy of life can be buried deep. The Shamanic Way has us looking into nature in ways that are different. Being in it in ways that are different too. So that we can experience, learn and gather useful, practical knowledge of how to do this being human thing. And, do it well too. In this workshop, you explore shamanic ways to uncover and learn what lies within you. We will share some of the ancient teachings of Winter and how we can sustain ourselves in life’s storms. Being connected is at the heart of shamanism and this is also Nature’s way. These three days are an invitation to connect further with yourself to go deep and then, even deeper… For under the hard ground and the snow lies Spring, waiting. You will encounter nature through Medicine Walks and we utilise the Way of Council, so you can experience and learn how to listen well and deeply. There is also an opportunity to learn and participate in a shamanic journey.
