#NatWestBoost #Women in Business Kendal

Annette and I would be delighted if you could join us for this our last WIB meeting for 2018. If you've not been before it is an informal event. A meeting of like minded business women where you can network, share ideas and make new business colleagues. There is no fee or membership and it is open to customers of NatWest and non customers. Light refreshents will be available and please don't forget your businesscards. Our first speakers will be Ashley Holden & Michelle Foulerton from Green House Floristry. A very experienced duo that have just entered into a new business venture together in Kendal. They are not on the high Street and are offering a floral workshop with a difference.  They will be talking weddings, parties, festive fermentation & Pickling, wrapping and wreath making!  Our second speaker is Cheryl Jones, MD of nxoCommunications. She earned her marketing stripes in the corporate world, working at Makro Wholesalers and Iceland Foods. Based in Manchester for many years, she is now located in North Lancashire and runs a business which serves the SME community, offering expert advice and guidance on strategic marketing, branding and communications. A local lass, Kendal born and bred, she is now perfectly situated to help businesses in the South Cumbria region who are looking to improve their employee communications and connect better with their customers. Have you ever wondered why you find some people easier to get along with than others? Effective communication builds a cohesion team in the workplace which ultimately leads to happier, more productive employees. Our styles of communication are varied and we can often lack the self-awareness and understanding of how other people perceive us. Cheryl is a certified facilitator of Everything DiSC Workplace Profiling and will be sharing with us some fascinating insights into styles of communication. This fun, interactive session will include a card game - with a twist. With the aim of helping you to start to build more effective relationships, she will share with you some of her vast knowledge of communications and how it can help your business to enrich its situation. The BIG Eden Tree Plant

The BIG Eden Tree Plant with Eden Rivers Trust Help us plant 10,000 trees to improve and protect the Eden's rivers This year we are planting 10,000 trees in the Ullswater and Lowther valleys, as part of a natural flood managment campaign to slow the flow of the river and improve our rivers for people and wildlife. We are working with the The Woodland Trust, Natural England, Lowther Forestry and the Forestry Commission to make this happen. We'd love individuals, groups, families, companies or organisations to volunteer their time and come and help us hit this amazing target. Each volunteer day will involve a short walk to site ( be prepared there may be hills involved!), an introduction to the site and full instructions of what we want to do and why we are doing it. Don't be put off if you have never done anything like it before. We will provide all the tools and equipment, we just ask that you come prepared for the weather - wear the right boots or welllingtons, bring waterproofs (top and bottom), lunch and bags of enthusiasm. We will provide hot drinks and some snacks (CAKE) to see you through the day. We will spend the whole day on site starting at 10am and finishing by 4pm. If you don't have transport to get to Ullswater or Thrimby, please contact us so we can arrange lifts where possible. Location for each date will be confirmed nearer the time. The BIG Eden Tree plant will see new woodland planted with a mix of native species on sites near Dockray (Ullswater) and Thrimby near Shap. The woodland will create a rich river habitat that will contribute towards mitigating the effects of flooding and sediment deposition downstream whilst improving water quality through intercepting pollutants and sediments upstream. For more information on The BIG Eden Tree Plant and other volunteering opportunities with Eden Rivers Trust, call 01768 866788 or email Susie.Gra[email protected]
