William Cookworthy’s Plymouth Porcelain factory was the first to produce hard-paste porcelain in England and began 250 years ago. Join National Trust Curator, Alison Cooper to find out why it was so important and to learn how Cookworthy developed his formula for manufacturing it. This talk will use some key examples from Plymouth Museums Galleries Archives which holds the largest public collection of Plymouth Porcelain. £2 per person. Advance booking advised. This event is part of #Cookworthy250, our celebration of the 250th anniversary of William Cookworthy obtaining a patent for the production of hard paste porcelain in England and establishing a factory in Plymouth.

A Jazz Cruise


Everyone is welcome to join Plymouth Jazz Club on a Jazz Cruise or 'Riverboat Shuffle' from Plymouth up the River Tamar to Calstock and back. Departs from the Commercial Wharf Landing Stage on the Barbican, Sutton Harbour on Sunday May 28th. Lively traditional jazz music will be supplied by the 'Graham's Gang' Jazz Band throughout the evening. Boat departs at 5.30 pm. Pasties (£3) will be available in Calstock but must be booked in advance.

The Hutong Boat Party


The Hutong is setting sail! The NYE party was a blast and we have been looking forward to introducing you to its summer brethren: The Hutong Boat Party, which will be the first ever Boat Party to be departing from Royal William Yard! Expect three hours coasting our incredible waters (because, let's face it, the Plymouth coastline is the envy of every city in the country) then back to Hutong HQ for the after party of your dreams. Cabin crew are none other than DJ collective Lightworks bringing the choicest soundtrack and we will be joined ashore by our star of NYE, Captain Parker, for the after party inferno. We leave the dock at RWY at 6:30pm and arrive back ashore at 9:30pm for an afterburner of a party at The Hutong. All aboard! x
