Mel Henson has been writing sales copy for over 20 years, getting results that one client described as ‘stratospheric’, and has trained copywriters all over the world, from Cape Town SA to Christchurch NZ.  She learned the craft of copywriting at Ogilvy & Mather Direct from Drayton Bird who says, ‘Mel is one of the few writers who really understands this business’.  Mel is the lead copywriter at Words that Sell and head of creative at AWA Digital, an international conversion rate optimisation (CRO) agency. Award-Winning Scott Johnson Wedding Photography Workshop


Scott Johnson FBIPP FSWPP Master Photographer is an Internationally recognised, award-winning photographer based in Essex and has photographed wedding all across Europe and the United States.  Known for being fun and energetic, Scott also travels the world as an educator and mentor.  After working as a second photographer for many years, he shot is first wedding solo at the age of 25 and started to forge his own path in the Wedding Photography scene in the UK, setting up ‘The Edge Photography’ in 2006. He quickly became one of the most sought after photographers in the South East of England.   It wasn’t until 2013 when he first started to enter print competitions and found success in 2014, winning the SWPP 20x16 Wedding Category, and his success continued in winning back-to-back Wedding Album of the Year with the Master Photographers Association (MPA) in the UK and Ireland in 2015 and 2016.  Following on, he won the 2017 SWPP 20x16 Documentary category with a harrowing image from his trip to Auschwitz.  In 2018, he was made a Master of The Societies and won The Guild of Photographers ‘Wedding image of the Year’. One of only 19 wedding photographers to achieve a Fellowship in Wedding Photography with the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) since 1901, and one of only a handful that's achieved Fellowship in two separate fields, his second being in Documentary Photography.  His documentary Fellowship on the Auschwitz camp in Poland taken entirely on film has received plaudits from across the world.  He also holds a Fellowship with the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP). A global ambassador for Fundy Software and Studio Ninja, a Photography Master with The Photographer Academy and supported by Graphistudio.  He is also an Official FujiFilm X-Photographer. Scott will be spending the day with us and showing us how he would shoot a bog standard wedding venue - The Grange Country House Hotel in Thursford, near Bury St Edmunds! Please bring your own lunch.

Part 2: Become Your Own Boss - Starting your Business


Part 2: Start your Business Right; Book Keeping & Self Assessment – summer workshops MENTA have a limited number of spaces on a programme of business support funded by the European Regeneration Development Fund (ERDF).  This fabulous programme is compiled of two workshops (Part 1 and Part 2) and you will need to complete both.  It is available to anyone free of charge so long as you live in Suffolk or Norfolk, have yet to start your buisness, or have been trading for less than 12 months - and perhaps need a re-focus. If you’re fed up with your boss, want to work when it suits you or need to fit earning a living around your family, then working for yourself may be the answer.  The programme is run by people who have been self-employed and is fun, informal and full of information to help you succeed. Both workshop run from 9.45am – 4.15pm with 30 minutes networking lunch (tea, coffee, water & biscuits will be provided, but please bring your own packed lunch).  There is a week’s interval between the dates to allow you to reflect on the first workshop and have questions ready for the second! Menta run these in several locations.  You are welcome to attend the 2 parts in different locations, but please attend Part 1 first. This course is ideal for businesses or team members expected to be called upon for media appearances, it is also useful for those wanting to improve their public speaking and general presentation skills.   The course is delivered by Nick Pandolfi, who has twice been named BBC radio presenter of the year and is winner of numerous industry awards for his presentation technique.  He works as a freelancer across network media in the UK and US.

She is a member of PATOSS, nasen and the Whole School SEND Consortium.   Bren is currently undertaking further post-graduate study in language and communication disorders in children at the University of Sheffield.
