Join us for our first pilates classes at The Ayrshire Women's Hub with Amanda! Our pilates classes will run on a Wednesday night and will cost £7.00, or can be booked in a block of 6 for a discount price of £36.00.***You must come into the hub if you wish to book a block session. Individual classes can be booked online via the event page.***Who is Amanda? I am a fully qualified, registered and chartered physiotherapist working within the NHS. I hold a diploma in sports massage and I also trained to teach Pilates through APPI. Why Pilates? I only tried Pilates myself for the first time last year. It has helped me improve my performance within my sport as well as helping get rid of a few niggling pains I had. Pilates is designed to work on your core stability strengthening your core muscles and your pelvic floor to support your back and a number of other joints. It can help to correct posture, improve pain, improve performance in sport or just be used as good exercise. It's also a great form of exercise for post natal and post menopausal women. Why APPI? The APPI method is a modified approach. Classical Pilates was analysed by the APPI founders and each exercise broken down into different levels so they can be made harder or easier to suit each person. APPI was also designed to accommodate injuries and weaknesses.

The Scottish International Airshow 2018

Since 2014, the Scottish International Airshow has been bringing the very best in flight displays to Scotland. After the close of the Leuchars Airshow in 2013, Danny Anderson and Doug Maclean decided to bring the Scottish public a new airshow, based in Ayrshire. The first show, in 2014, attracted 60,000 spectators, who thrilled to the first Ayrshire-based show since 1992. In 2015, the show grew to over 100,000 spectators, who were treated to the Avro Vulcan bomber, as it thundered over the crowd for one of the last times before it was retired. In 2016 the show had an exciting first for Scotland. In addition to a full day of flying on Saturday, the Airshow was proud to present a Friday night flying display by Aerosparx, whose LED covered planes sparkle in the night sky. With fireworks to follow, it was a night to remember! In 2017 the show changed format onec again to be a full weekend Saturday and Sunday airshow event with full flying programmes each day. Highlights were the F-16 Fighter Display from Belgium, the RAF Typhoon fighter, the Battle of Britain memorial flight and The Red Arrows. Significant firsts for TSIA was the participation from the USAF for the first time and the first modern Civil Airliner and Civil Carrier to perform a full air display with Loganair?s SAAB. For 2018 there will be more exciting International participation with a full programme of displays on both the Saturday and Sunday.
