Nathan Carter and his Band

Nathan Carter is one of the biggest names on the Irish music scene and is fast becoming a big name all over the UK

Nathan was born on 28th May 1990, growing up in Liverpool. His family originate from Newry in County Down. He soon leaned to play the accordion and trips to Ireland to compete in Fleadh Ceoil’s became a regular feature of young Nathan’s life, and by the age of 12 he won All Ireland medals for singing, and the accordion. Nathan soon became a member of the Liverpool Ceili band, playing accordion and piano, and solo performances soon followed in Liverpool and Ireland.

Nathan performs an array of original songs and covers which show the tone and range of his vocal ability which, on occasion emotes clearly his own passion for the songs and what being Irish means to him.

Since his appearance on BBC 1’s The One Show back in August, his profile on this side of the Irish Sea has grown immeasurably.

Nathan is an expert accordion player so you can expect a bit of hand clapping, foot tapping hooley as well and this friendly and good looking young man will perform a superbly entertaining show that will make you want to see him again.

Screening: Singin' in the Rain (1952, U)

The first of two technicolour films we are screening this autumn: Singin' in the Rain (1952) is an extraordinary feat of story-telling and choreography combined with three-colour technology. Set during the rise of the 'talkies' in Hollywood in the 1920s, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, two stars of the silent-film era of Hollywood, must adapt. However, Lina has a shrill voice, and young studio singer Kathy Selden is is initially recruited to voice her parts.  Featuring some dazzling choreography and dance performance, including Moses Supposes, Make'em Laugh, Good Morning and Singin' in the Rain, it remains a singular achievement of musical cinema. Sabbra Cadabra - 50th Anniversary Sabbath Show - DUMFRIES

BLACK SABBATH 50th ANNIVERSARY SHOW AT DUMFRIES!If you can't have the original Black Sabbath to celebrate 50 years since they played Dumfries...get the next best thing! Sabbra Cadabra are the UK's best and most authentic Black Sabbath tribute and they are bringing a 2 hour show of Black Sabbath classics to one of their 'spiritual homes' - Dumfries played host to Sabbath on two occasions in 1969 (January 21st and November 16th). Sabbra Cadabra want to pay tribute to Dumfries' support for the first incarnations of the band when they were still known as Polka Tulk, Earth and then Black Sabbath. Sabbra Cadabra are the finest UK tribute to Sabbath, they only play Sabbath classics from the Ozzy era. They don't play Ozzy solo tunes, no Zakk Wylde or Randy Rhoads style versions, no dodgy 'pub-band' versions, no dodgy wigs, no changing the keys from the originals - just two hours of classic Sabbath, played like Sabbath, sounds like Sabbath. NOT TO BE MISSED!

In conversation: Louise Hopkins

We look forward to welcoming Louise Hopkins back to Cample to talk about the development of her new commission and exhibition Flying Fox in the context of her wider practice. Chaired by Tina Fiske. The first formal presentation of Hopkins’ work in a rural location, Flying Fox brings together a large-scale work of geometric abstraction made specifically for CAMPLE LINE’s gallery spaces and a group of ten new and recent works on paper that have been installed in dialogue with it. A catalogue page, a piece of folded paper, a building or an environment...:Reading workshop by My Bookcase

A catalogue page, a piece of folded paper, a building or an environment...Reading workshop by My Bookcase Flying Fox is a dynamic encounter with colour, abstraction, grid and place. My Bookcase invites you to take part in a creative workshop to explore your own experience of Flying Fox through short texts selected by Hopkins and CAMPLE LINE. We will explore and work with them to generate a collective publication that offers a new reading of Flying Fox. My Bookcase is a social enterprise founded in 2014 by artist Cristina Garriga. Now based in Glasgow, Barcelona and Amsterdam, it creatively explores the role of the book and its reader in today's society.
