Poetry Apothecary: natural perfume-making

POETRY APOTHECARY: Natural perfume-making ... plus blending with words Poetry Apothecary returns with a very special session for winter.  The workshop explores how the ingredients and techniques for composing and blending a scent can be compared to working with words, and vice versa... composing and adjusting until you’ve made something perfectly balanced that expresses just what you want it to. You will learn about essential oils and their uses in natural perfumery; the history of perfumery in medieval alchemy; techniques in designing and blending a scent; developing skills and ideas for your own 'holistic creative practice'.  We will explore how scent connects us closely with our memories, and how we can translate stories and experiences into our scent-blends.  You will end the day with your own original 10ml scent blend, a title and short description, and plenty of ideas and techniques to build upon.  SUNDAY 18th November 2018, 12-4pm £45 - includes all materials Ages 16+.  Booking essential, places limited. Contact for enquiries: Rebecca Sharp - [email protected] or 07976 374 432 Venue info: http://www.centreforstewardship.org.uk/ Rebecca Sharp is a writer and artist whose practice encompasses text, performance, visual and collaborative projects. She established Poetry Apothecary as a way to explore scent, ecology and creativity, to make new work and offer participatory workshops. In 2018 she was commissioned by artist Michael Curran and Generator Projects Dundee to create a perfume – Poeta – inspired by the writer Muriel Spark. www.poetryapothecary.com  www.rebeccajoysharp.com  Poetry Apothecary has previously appeared at the Centre for Stewardship, The Ecology Centre in Kinghorn, Skriva Writing School in Edinburgh, Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow and Wall Projects in Montrose: “An absolutely perfect day.” “What a fascinating experience creating a signature scent from scratch. Not only was the whole process an education, it was also extremely therapeutic. A big thankyou to Rebecca for leading us through the process with imagination, insight and sensitivity - it’s a workshop I would highly recommend to everyone! “ “Really inspiring and stimulating – it was great to try out a new direction for writing.” “It opened up a world I hadn’t much considered before. An added dimension!” “Thank you for a lovely day, it was very calming and soothing and something quite different.” “Very enjoyable and interesting!”
