PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION BY SIMON PRUNTY

Simon Prunty is an artist from Dublin. He is a graduate of NCAD (The National College of Art and Design) with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art Media.

Simon’s photographic work focuses on a passionate revival of traditional analogue photographic practices and his most recent ongoing body of work is based entirely in traditional black and white 35mm and Medium Format analogue photography; entitled, “Looking for Peace”.

Each image is hand-printed by the artist in the darkroom on archival silver gelatin paper. The work explores a quiet, minimalist and mysterious aesthetic, assuming no concrete answers about the world it depicts, but rather displays scenes with an almost agnostic nature; gathering questions and celebrating the unknowable.

Simon has also taught traditional darkroom skills to students at DUPA (Dublin University Photography Association) in Trinity College, Dublin.

This exhibition will be displayed in our Easter Snow Gallery throughout June and July from 10am to 4:30pm daily.
Admission is free. All welcome.

Mind Body Soul

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience. The Bhagavad Gita, a 5000 year old book followed by millions in the east and the source of all yoga, tells us that our biggest enemy is the mind and our identification with it. For one who has conquered his mind it becomes his best friend. And for one who doesn't, it remains his greatest enemy. Mind Body Soul is your mid-week pause. These Wednesday evening events will keep you inspired and help you spiritualise your thinking and lifestyle. You don't need to change much, just your perspective and a little bit of your lifestyle. You'll see how a little bit of meditation, some understanding of the philosophy, and some spiritual practices will change your life for the better. Everyday life will become much easier and enjoyable, and you will develop traits that will enhance your character, relationships and feelings. A must go to event! Entry £5, first time FREE

FITBANKER Trek: Maidenhead to Marlow, 24 June 2018

This is a simple outing along a very pretty stretch of the Thames. To begin with, the walk takes a somewhat prosaic route for a mile or so through Maidenhead to get to the river by Brunel’s famous Maidenhead Rail Bridge, the widest brick arch ever built. The route then follows the Thames Path to Cookham, with the beautiful wooded escarpment of the Cliveden estate on the far side of the river. Cookham has various lunch options, and afterwards the walk climbs up onto an escarpment with fine views of the Thames Valley. Finally, you descend into Marlow, a pretty eighteenth century town with lots of tea choices. Distance: 14km Trek Intensity: Easy to Moderate Who can do this: All ages & fitness levels Departure from London Victoria: 8:30am train to Maidenhead Trek Start: Maidenhead Station End: Marlow Station Train Tickets: Purchase your train tickets ASAP via Southern Railway to benefit from the DaySave Group Discount of £9.75 per person (versus individual price of £18.80). This is an off-peak pass available for 3 or 4 people travelling together (which can be a combination of Adults and Children) unlimited travel on off-peak Southern services on the date shown on the ticket.
