Minehead Business Brunch: Local Business Owners Meetup

Minehead Business Brunch is an opportunity for small business owners to meet up and talk business - whether it's seeking advice or just wanting to connect with other business owners, the Brunch is an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Like the Minehead Business Brunch page on Facebook for updates and more information. https://www.facebook.com/mineheadbb/ FAQs What will I have to do at the brunch? Please arrive at 10am - We will have tables and chairs to sit at in the 'Resturant area' of Wetherspoons - at main reception which you will see as soon as you enter the main door, turn left, you will be able to see a room and there will be a sign for Minehead Business Brunch on the door. Being at Wetherspoons you have unlimited coffee and tea refills as well as a brunch menu, should you want to grab something to eat! At approximately 10.10am once everyone has had time to arrive and grab coffee or order from the menu, we will start making introductions. Please note that we are aware taking time out for your business can be difficult, so it is not essential to stay until 12pm. What are my parking options for the event? Sadly there is no car park, there is on-street parking but some places are restricted to an hour. There are plenty of side roads, however a space is not guaranteed. The nearest main car park is in Summerland Ave, approximately a 5-minute walk to Wetherspoons more details can be found here: https://www.westsomersetonline.gov.uk/Transport---Streets/Car-Parks---Parking/Car-Park-Maps/Summerland-Car-Park It is £1 for 2 hours. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, a list of pre-registered attendees will be with the organiser - please make yourself known and state your name, so we have a record of attendance. This record is for audit purposes only and your information is never shared.  Do I need to register? Yes please - this will help in space allocation at Wetherspoons, and help with pre-preparation. Registering your attendance with EventBrite is free.

Fit for my Future - Minehead

No ticket or registration is required for this event, however if you want to let us know you can make it then please do! Our drop in sessions are hosted by the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and Somerset Council. Members of team are on hand for a chat and you can find out more about why there is a need for change and what our initial thoughts are. Fit for my future is a health and social care programme which Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Somerset County Council and other partners are running to understand how we can best use our resources to help people across Somerset stay healthy and independent for longer.  We want to hear as many views as possible and would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend to share their experiences of health and social care services and what might be done to make them better in future.

FOSSIL HUNT - Doniford, Somerset

Doniford Bay yields some superb white ammonites, which can be found in the rocks on the foreshore. There are also a number of well-preserved brachiopods and bivalves. * Suitable for children 5+ (All children must be acompanied by a paying adult).* HARD HATS (No Cycle Helmets), and HIGH VISIBILITY VESTS or jacket essential. We do not provide these, but you can add these when ordering if needed.  Please download and read the RISK ASSESSMENT Document Please download and read the PPE POLICY Document Please note, many of our locations will not have toilet facilities, water, or other amenities.  Fossil guide to this location: https://ukfossils.co.uk/2002/11/06/doniford-bay/ A wide variety of ammonites can be found at Doniford Bay. The most common are the Arnioceras. These are fairly small ammonites packed into the Doniford Shale. Other ammonites can be found at low tide, north of the Watchet fault. In particular, Psiloceras can be found and are very well preserved. There are a range of other ammonites to be found by collecting from around the point of Doniford Bay, but they are less common here. Many shells also can be collected. Look for blocks on the beach, as the ammonites are clearly visible. The rock is fairly easy to split and, if you break one ammonite, there are usually many more in the same block. Some of these ammonites are distorted. Blocks can be found from near the blocks of stone protecting the cliff from the sea. They are in a horizontal layer on the foreshore. Blocks packed with the white ammonites can also be found on the foreshore. These have so many ammonites – positioned in various ways – that many will split incorrectly. However, because the rocks are so full of ammonites, at least some will split in the correct way. FAQ  Can my child less than 4 attend the event? We strongly advice against taking children under 4, but if the event allows children and leaders agree, then this is possible providing they are under your responsibility and care, and do not use tools or equipment. Please contact us on 01502 725205 (Mon-Fri 8am-3pm) for more information. Can I book over the phone? Yes, you can, and we can take card payment, however a waiver must be signed before we can accept your booking. The waiver can be emailed or posted out, but must be returned within one week of the booking. Contact us on: 01502 725205 (Mon-Fri 8am-3pm). Can I pay on the day? Sorry, we do not allow anyone to pay on the day, as we cannot provide pre-preparation details on risk assessment, and due to health and safety, places are limited. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? This will greatly help us and speed things up, but leaders will have a list of those attending on the day. Is my registration ticket transferrable? Please contact us and we normally try to accommodate this. I have a question not listed? Please contact us on 01502 725205 (Mon-Fri 8am-3pm). What happens if I can’t make it on time or get to the venue? You need to contact us urgently. If this is within a few days of the event, call us on 01502 725205 (Mon-Fri 8am till 4pm), if it is on the day or a couple of days before, contact the leader in the final confirmation email detailing where to meet and times. We cannot guarenete we can wait for you, but where possible, we will try. Are toilets nearby? Most events will not have access to toliets. The best places to find fossils are mostly areas away from built up areas, and tend to be quite remote. There are a few exceptions where toliets are close by, but it is best to presume they wont be available. Will my friend's hammer and chisels from their tool box be okay to bring? No, standard tools are made from inferior metal which splinter very easily against rocks. This is both dangerous to yourself and others, and flying metal can cause eye injuries or penetrate the skin. ONLY hammers specifically made for geological use can be used. We offer some to add to your order if you dont have any. What happens if the event is cancelled? We try very hard to avoid having to cancel, but if an event needs to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditons or unforeseen circansances, we will notify you immediately, and you will be offered an alternative hunt or date or a refund. Can I bring my dog/pet? UKAFH does not permit members to bring dogs or pets, unless under exceptional circumstances such as guide dogs. Some members may suffer from Cynophobia, or allergies. In addition, we need to ensure the safety of all members. Many beaches also do not permit dogs.
