Insight into Engineering @ PROCAT's Basildon Campus (19/12/18 pm)

We're delighted to once again be working with the team at PROCAT to deliver a number of Engineering and Construction-related events for young people throughout 2018/19, serving to highlight some of the exciting companies operating in Essex and the careers young people can choose to follow locally, plus the excellent facilities and courses on offer for students wanting to further their learning once they leave school.  These Engineering-focused events at PROCAT's Basildon campus will combine opportunities for students to 'have a go' in practical, industry and academic-led workshops, and to gather information about courses and careers and the labour market in short presentations. We'll give more information about the nature of the workshops on the day, and more details about support from industry as it's confirmed. Watch this space for those updates! This event will afford schools the opportunity to help to address the following Gatsby benchmarks: - Learning from career and labour market information - Encounters with employers and employees - Encounters with further and higher education If your school would like to bring along a group of up to 10 students on the day*, please note that the event is for students in years 8-10. We'll provide soft drinks for students and tea/coffee for teaching staff escorting their pupils on the day, and will support the costs incurred by the school for getting students to and from the event. Schools are asked to book and pay for transport and then send an invoice to the ESB Education and Industry STEM Programme team. If you have any questions before making a booking or once you've booked and in the lead-up to the event itself, feel free to get in touch at [email protected] *If you'd like to book a larger group please get in touch with [email protected]

Holiday Inn

The Kingsway Community Cinema proudly present Irving Berlin's Hoilday Inn for our Xmas screening. In this Irving Berlin musical, Jim (Bing Crosby) and Lila are members of a performing trio who plan to quit and run a country hotel. When Lila says she has fallen in love with the dancer in the act, Ted (Fred Astaire), Jim leaves town with a broken heart. After turning the inn into a holidays-only live entertainment venue, Jim winds up booking -- and falling for -- Linda (Marjorie Reynolds). But when Ted shows up at the place after being dumped by Lila, he too sets his sights on beautiful Linda.

An Evening of Magic

London and Essex-based magician George Berryman and a team of other highly-established magicians will assist in providing a Chrismas special, unforgettable childrens magic workshop.   They will learn a whole variety of easy-to-do routines which they would be able to go out and show immediately. It requires NO previous experience of magic and will consist of professional but self-working and simple card routines, as well as illusions involving coins and everyday objects.   Refreshments will be supplied for the children and will be available to purchase for adults who stay during the workshop. After the class at 7.45pm, participants will be more than welcome, only if they wish to, to perform a trick to the rest of the group. Whether it be something they've already learnt in the past or within the session.  The workshop promises to teach some incredible routines which they can take home and perform to friends and family immediately and will leave a spectator of any kind amazed as they witness the impossible!  All props for the effects are included in the price of the tickets and can be taken home after.  For legal reasons, an adult is needed to represent each child for entry and supervision.  Recommended age range: 7-13 years of age.   FAQs   Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No printed ticket needed. Just a print out or proof of purchase through the Eventbrite email purchase confirmation is sufficient.
