Fit for my Future - Langport


Fit for my future is a health and social care programme which Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Somerset County Council and other partners are running to understand how we can best use our resources to help people across Somerset stay healthy and independent for longer.  We want to hear as many views as possible and would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend to share their experiences of health and social care services and what might be done to make them better in future.

Cheese & Toast at Brympton House, October 2018


Join us for our October lunch at Brympton House near Yeovil, where we will be joined by local business woman Fran Lee of Bumblees Preserves. Fran's preserves are produced the traditional way, small batches in a maslin pan, using recipes handed down the generations, and home grown and locally sourced produce.  A welcome drink will be served at 12:30pm and we will sit down to eat at 1pm. Menu: Breast of chicken with a stilton sauce and root mash Somerset Cheeseboard Vegetarian option available on request.

A Tour of Colin Tizzards’ Racing Stables and Wincanton Races


On arrival, we will be greeted by Colin who will talk about the Stables and then head to the Gallop to watch the horses at work. At the end of the tour, we then depart at 12:30pm for an afternoon of racing. The Grandstand Punters Package price includes a Grandstand Ticket, Racecard, £2 bet and a Meal & drink voucher for the popular and atmospheric Badger Bar, which serves a selection of drinks and hot and cold food.     A wide selection of main meals are served here with a Best of British theme, including locally sourced produce, freshly cooked on the day. Choose from fish and chips, bangers and mash or a roast meal with seasonal vegetables. There is plenty of seating here to enjoy your meal and read the racecard to choose those important winners! Timings: Leave Leominster 6:00am., Hereford 6:30am., Ross 7:00am. Depart Races at 5pm,travel back to Ross 8:00pm, Hereford 8:30pm & Leominster 9:00pm. Costs: Including travel costs, a guided tour of the stables (money goes the Injured Jockeys Fund),  Grandstand Punters Package £69.00 per person.

AUTUMN WORKSHOP: EXPLORING OUR ENVIRONMENT THROUGH DRAWING


Join us for this special one-day drawing workshop led by artist Emma Stibbon. Inspired by our forthcoming exhibition ‘Takesada Matsutani. drop in time’, during this workshop participants will be encouraged to explore their responses to the environment through experimental drawing. Take part in playful drawing exercises using simple media including Indian ink, graphite powder, carbon dust and other earth materials gathered on site. Devices of cropping, framing and point of view will also be explored. Using the location of Hauser and Wirth Somerset as inspiration, participants will develop new strategies to approach drawing and media using the landscape as a trigger for work. This workshop is suitable for all levels. All materials will be provided. The workshop will take place at Hauser & Wirth Somerset on Saturday 20 October 2018, from 10 am – 4 pm Tickets are £90 and include lunch at Roth Bar & Grill - WORKSHOP LUNCH MENU Country bread & home churned butter Castlemead Farm chicken, Ceasar dressing Mixed leaves, chips Vanilla yogurt panna cotta, seasonal fruit You are welcome to order drinks from your waiter - these will be charged as taken. -- About Emma Stibbon The workshop is led by Emma Stibbon, an artist who works in drawing and print. Her work often takes her on location; recently she has participated as Artist in Residence at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park (2016), and been commissioned by Project Pressure to document receding glaciers in Ecuador (2017). She has recently exhibited her work at the Alan Cristea Gallery, London, Galerie Bastian, Berlin, the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne; The Polar Museum, Cambridge, the Royal Academy, London and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Hangzhou, China. Her work is held in private and public collections including the Stadtmuseum, Berlin; New Art Gallery, Walsall; Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery; and the V&A, London. Emma Stibbon was elected Royal Academician in 2013 and works from her studio at Spike Island, Bristol. In case rain, participants should also bring a sketchbook with drawings or photographs that will be used as inspiration for your drawings – these should be of a place that has some significance for you.

Dinner & Book Launch with Rowley Leigh


FT Food Correspondent, Rowley Leigh, joins us this October to launch his new book, ‘It’s a long and messy business’.   The evening will include an introduction from Rowley, followed by dinner using recipes from the book.   ‘It’s a long and messy business’ is a definitive collection of recipes from one of the inventors of modern British cooking.  Rowley Leigh, one of the leading lights of modern British food, said he fell into the trade ‘almost by accident,’ following early stints as a farmer and novelist.   He worked with the Roux brothers at Le Gavroche, in Mayfair, before opening Kensington Place with Nick Smallwood in 1987 to rapturous acclaim.   In 2007, he left to open Le Cafe Anglais, which was similarly successful.  In addition to his work as a chef and restaurateur, he is a prize-winning journalist and author.  Please note that all dietary requirements can be catered for, please advise us on booking. Management Development Programme - ILM Accredited (12 Month Course)


ILM Accredited Management Development Programme Starting: October 2018 (completing September 2019) Our 12-month management development programme is ideal for your chosen Supervisor, Team Leader or Trainee Manager (or Rising Star!) to develop their knowledge, skills and management behaviours and gain a globally recognised Level 3 ILM qualification. Delegates are invited to one group session per month and have support from our trainers and their fellow delegates in between sessions.
