Hullabaooo Messy Play

Join us for Messy Play at Hullaballo. There are huge benefits of messy play for babies and children as they learn to developed through unstructured, exploitable play. Experimenting with different materials, textures and tastes - without any goals. Because messy play is all about exploring, there is no right or wrong way. This means children can participate whatever their ability. It's also a very social activity, because it doesn't rely on words. Children can play together and share their discoveries without having to explain things verbally. However it can be a great way to explore vocabulary and describing textures, temperatures etc. It encourages early mark making. We aim to make everything edible, so there is no worries about what your little one puts in their mouth.  Each week is themed October: 10th  - Make your own playdoh and Kinetic sand!                17th - Exploring textures - Water beads, slime, sand, cornflour and water plus foam!                24th - Halloween Themed - Exploding couldrens, Slime, Bakes bean lucky dip and more                31st - NO MESSY PLAY November: 7th - Fireworks                   14th - Vehicals Themed                   21st - Under the Sea Theme!                   28th - The Dinosaur Take Over Theme December: 5th - Colours and textures - The food we grow                   12th - Winter Wonderlad Theme!                   19th - Fun Filled Christmas Games! SINGING WORKSHOPS with Verity Standen

6.15 – 7.45pmEvery WednesdayWeston Museum TERRESTRIAL are working with award-winning composer and choir leader Verity Standen to offer a fun weekly singing workshop in Weston-super-Mare. Whether you’re an experienced choral performer, or have never sung outside your own shower, you’re welcome. Verity teaches everything by ear, so there’s no need to read music. Verity will lead the group through warm-up exercises and vocal techniques, but the main focus will be on learning a diverse range of music – from rich folk and playful pop to raucous sea shanties. As a skilled arranger, Verity will take song suggestions from the group and teach them in future weeks – so this is your chance to hear your favourite music sung a cappella. All TERRESTRIAL workshops are free to attend – you’re welcome to donate at the end if you enjoy the experience. Sessions are drop-in, no commitment, just come along when you can. But to help us plan numbers, please sign up in advance if possible - just click on 'Register' (and make sure your inbox receives email updates from Eventbrite, as they sometimes end up in junk)   Verity Standen’s unique musical projects have been performed across the UK (from the National Theatre to the Outer Hebrides), and she has formed new choirs as far afield as Poland, Czech Republic and China. Verity is working with TERRESTRIAL in Weston-super-Mare over the next year to offer these public singing workshops, as well as working with local organisation Big Worle to create a musical portrait of the area, beginning with an audio interview project.
