Cotton On to launch a new music and fashion hub in the Mall of Africa


On Thursday, 28 April, the world’s largest Cotton On store will open with a bang in Johannesburg’s brand new Mall of Africa, featuring a hive of activity and awesome beats brought to you by local DJ’s and WeHeartBeats. South Africa’s latest Cotton On store holds the title of the brand’s largest retail space in the world to date. For the first time, your shopping experience will be taken to an all new level with a pop-up music hub curated by WeHeartBeat in-store. The Beat Lounge will host a permanent DJ booth curated by BeatOn, giving shoppers the opportunity to listen to the best emerging DJ talent season to season. This weekend, Freddie Joachim from L.A’s Mellow Orange Crew is first up on the line-up following with Raiko, KidFonque and Rosie Parade. The new store is now the ideal meeting spot for music lovers and fashionistas to connect, alongside local DJ’s performing in-store. Cotton On BODY will be running customisation activities, and yoga classes, whereby Rubi introduces its very own nail bar, to name a few. MELROSE ARCH LOOKS FORWARD TO HOSTING THE TOYZONE KIDS’ CYCLE RACE FOR CHARITY


The day every child looks forward to is almost here! The annual ToyZone Kids’ Cycle Race at Melrose Arch is taking place on Sunday, 27 May, 2018 on the Piazza and families are promised a day of fun and entertainment while raising money for charity. Entries are open to children aged between three months and 13 years, in four age categories: Ducklings – three months to three years Bunnies – four to six years Foxes – seven to nine years Lions – 10 to 13 years Prams, street slider scooters, tricycles and bicycles are welcome, and parents may accompany their children around the circuit or, in the case of Foxes and Lions, cycle with them. Please remember that helmets are compulsory – no helmet, no ride. Registration opens at 8am, with the first race, the Ducklings, taking place at 9am. The Bunnies will line up at the start at 9.45am, the Foxes will depart at 10.30am and the Lions will set off at 11.15am. The Ducklings will cycle one lap of 1,2km, Bunnies two laps, Foxes three laps and Lions five laps. Every entrant will receive a goodie bag and a medal upon completion of the race, and there will be spot prizes up for grabs throughout the morning. Once children have finished cycling, there will be plenty of fun kids’ activities on the Piazza. “At Melrose Arch, we look forward to hosting the ToyZone Kids’ Cycle Race every year. It’s a fun day out, there’s a great atmosphere on the precinct and it’s the perfect opportunity for families to spend time together in a safe, secure environment while contributing to a worthy cause,” says Mike Vermaak, MD of Melrose Arch. All proceeds will be donated to the Smile Foundation, a South African NGO that assists children with treatable facial anomalies such as facial paralysis, cleft lip and cleft palate, cranofacial abnormalities, as well as ear, nose and hand conditions, and burn wounds. Blanket Run 2018


This year, the Sunday Charity Ride at the AutoTrader South African Bike Festival, will be joining forces with the Rainbow Mzansi Bikers Organisation for their annual RAMBO Blanket Run to be held on Sunday 27 May at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. Anyone and everyone can join in with a few options to participate. For just R250, clubs, associations, charities, dealers and their friends and families can purchase a festival ticket AND a 200x220 double blanket ahead of time. Those who have already purchased a festival ticket can buy a blanket through the festival website at cost price for R120 OR donate an amount of their choosing. Visitors also have the option to bring along their own double blanket and therefore waive the participation fee of the ride. All blankets will be on display at the festival with the official programme of thanks to the clubs and community at 12:30am on Sunday on the main stage. Last year over 2 000 blankets were collected and distributed to deserving families to help combat the harsh winter months in Gauteng.
