Cotton On to launch a new music and fashion hub in the Mall of Africa

On Thursday, 28 April, the world’s largest Cotton On store will open with a bang in Johannesburg’s brand new Mall of Africa, featuring a hive of activity and awesome beats brought to you by local DJ’s and WeHeartBeats. For the first time, your shopping experience will be taken to an all new level with a pop-up music hub curated by WeHeartBeat in-store. This weekend, Freddie Joachim from L.A’s Mellow Orange Crew is first up on the line-up following with Raiko, KidFonque and Rosie Parade. The new store is now the ideal meeting spot for music lovers and fashionistas to connect, alongside local DJ’s performing in-store. Enslavement, Conflict and Forced Marriage in Africa

Building upon the success of an earlier meeting held in Kampala in May 2017, the University of the Witwatersrand invites applications from early career scholars, activists and practitioners to participate in a four day workshop to take place in Johannesburg on the 25th to 28th of June. This event will provide participants with an opportunity to present their work, to build relationships with others working in similar fields, and to engage with more senior scholars and practitioners. The workshop will specifically focus upon the different ways in which knowledge regarding patterns of enslavement, conflict and marriage in sub-Saharan Africa have been – and should be – both collected and disseminated. We would especially welcome submissions that explore one or both of our two central themes, which are as follows: i)               research methods and research ethics ii)              the political economy of knowledge production and dissemination For call for papers see: csiw-ectg.org ***** Forte du succès d’une rencontre tenue à Kampala en mai 2017, l’Université du Witwatersrand invite les chercheur-e-s, activistes et intervenant-e-s en début de carrière à postuler pour participer à un atelier de quatre jours, qui se tiendra à Johannesburg du 25 au 28 juin.
