Full Moon Esbat - New Year's Spellcraft

Teaching Habits of Mind: January 24, 2019 with a 2nd day TBD by participants, in Waterville, Maine


Over the course of and in between the two face-to-face days we will focus on teaching the habits, measuring and providing feedback, and integrating habits of mind into instructional design. Participants will collaborate and share artifacts as well as access the MCCL Habits of Mind Learning Progressions and e-library of resources collected from and by MCCL teachers/learning facilitators. This training will accommodate the needs of each participant. Those with experience at teaching habits of mind will have opportunities to share resources and problem solve what is working and what is not. Those who are just getting started will have opportunities to engage with the resources and learn from others who have taken different approaches. Outcomes: Participants will: •acquire an understanding of the habits of mind as one of the systems of learning. •acquire an understanding of habits of mind instruction and how it integrates with the teaching of content knowledge and critical thinking. •acquire an understanding of MCCL’s selection of habits of mind & the MCCL Habits of Mind Learning Progressions. •understand the research on teaching and providing learners feedback as they develop these habits. •gain access to resources & artifacts that support the implementation of habits of mind in all classrooms. •understand how habits of mind impact instructional design. •gain access to resources & artifacts that support the implementation of habits of mind in all classrooms. •share common experiences of their implementation efforts thus far. 2019 Maine Permaculture Design Course (PDC) Weekend Format (MOFGA)

Join The Resilience Hub & Midcoast Permaculture as they surpass their 20th internationally-recognized Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) Course.  This one-weekend-per-month format is ideal for anyone who would not typically be able to take two weeks off from life/work to take an “immersion” PDC. Tarot Thursdays - Tarot Class


This is a 5 week class running every Thursday from January 3rd through January 31st, 2019 Throw that book away and learn to read Tarot using your psychic intuition. The first 4 weeks we will a new "suit" of the minor (lesser) arcana and the final week will be the major arcana. Each week we will practice reading using the deck you are "building" (1 suit first week, 2 suits second week and so forth) The final week you will read for the public with your completed decks! Learn to read using your favorite deck (which you are required to bring with you) You must use a Tarot deck, Oracle decks will not be permitted. The cost of this class is $100 which may be paid 50% in advance and 50% at the beginning of the class.

Witchcraft 1


Enchanted Herbs & Teas will be hosting a Witchcraft 1 class. Come and and learn the secrets the ancestors knew in this fun interactive class. This class will give a solid foundation for anyone who wishes to practice as a solitary or coven Witch. There will be a field trip to watch an actual Sabbat ritual celebration as a part of this class. This is a four month class beginning on January 7th, 2019 and running through April 29th, 2019 (Monday evenings - see calender https://www.enchantedherbsmaine.com/events for full schedule) Cost: $250 (Price includes textbooks) - $200 if paid in full in advance. You may pre-register with a 50% payment with the remainder due on the first class. Installment payments are available. $70 to sign-up, $70 on the first Monday of each month for the first 3 months. Telling Your Truth: The Personal Essay and Memoir  Tuesday, January 29, 2019, 4p-6pSnow Date: Wednesday, January 30  Professor Michael Burke of Colby College will lead a two-hour workshop on the nature, features, and tools of the Personal Essay and Memoir. The session will begin with a brief description of the features and tools of both the personal essay and memoir writing. Following this introduction, participants will respond to writing prompts designed to generate the beginnings of an essay or memoir, and will be invited to share the results with others in the workshop.  This session is appropriate for anyone 18 and older. Participants should bring something to write on and with: laptop, ipad, pad of paper, etc.  Free and open to the public. Seating is limited to 20 participants; registration is required. Register at:  Michael Burke has taught at Colby College since 1987, where he is Professor of English and Creative Writing, and Director of their Creative Writing Program. His nonfiction has appeared in the Boston Globe, The New York Times, Down East, Yankee, Islands, Outside, and other national and international publications, and he is the author of an adventure/memoir, The Same River Twice (University of Arizona Press). His play, The Town Meets, won the Maine Literary Arts Award in 2018. He has a BA in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Creative Writing. He lives in Wilton with his wife, the fiction writer Patricia O’Donnell.
