The Essentials (Chester) The Off Piste Awareness Talk

The Offpiste Awareness Talks are a series of live multimedia talks about how to have fun and be safe while riding off piste this season. It covers avalanche awareness and much more about how you can build your knowledge and confidence to go off piste with or without a guide. The talk is brought to you by Henry's Avalanche Talk and Ortovox. With thanks to Ellis Brigham and The Ski Club GB for their support in making it happen. There are two versions of the talk: The Essentials – a must see talk, full of ‘essential’ information for all off-piste skiers, no matter how experienced you are. In depth – understand exactly how avalanches are triggered (for those who have already seen the Essentials Talk). This event is the Essentials Talk. This talk helps you answer the critical question “Is it safe out there?” We explain that there is no simple yes or no answer. The right answer is it depends on you. It depends on: Where you go and when, How you go down or up and How well prepared you are. The hour and a half ‘Essentials’ talk uses compelling images, videos and stories of accidents, great skiing along with close calls with danger. In this talk, Henry will deliver a risk management formula that will help you to see how skiing off-piste can be no more dangerous than the activities that you engage in each day. It is worth watching every year. People often tell us that they get more out of this talk each time they attend or watch it online.   Watch the first 20 minutes of the talk for free online by clicking here

The Women in Business Network Chester

We launched the Women in Business Network group for Chester last year and now have a thriving and growing group of fabulous business women all doing great networking together and we are actively recruiting for new members. The Women in Business Network is an International networking organisation that supports all business women to grow themselves and their businesses through powerful and effective networking.  I currently run groups for Liverpool, Sefton, Preston & Blackburn, Chester & the Wirral, Bolton & Bury, St Helens & Knowsley and Wigan. We have a mix of many different professional groups all with professional exclusivity.  The meetings are quite structured. They are monthly meetings lasting from 12 noon until 2pm and have a mix of informal networking and a business meeting format. Every woman has the opportunity to give their 60 second pitch and we have a spotlight session every month where a member will talk about her business in detail. We also regularly have guest speakers. We build a culture of all the members being welcoming and supportive whilst doing business through trust and relationship building with like-minded women.

Are You Making Tax Digital (MTD) Ready?

Making Tax Digital is arriving in April 2019 and will affect all VAT registered businesses with a taxable turnover above the VAT threshold of £85,000. If you currently prepare your VAT returns by hand or on a computer spreadsheet you will need to make changes. Our free breakfast seminar will fully explain what MTD entails, meaning you can ensure your business has a plan in place ready for when it arrives. Seminar Schedule 8.am arrival for breakfast ready for an 8.30am start An intro to Making Tax Digital The benefits of cloud accounting using Xero Break for coffee at 10am How Morris & Co can help get set for MTD Networking and finish Please register using the button. For businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold and all unincorporated businesses, partnerships or charities you will have to start keeping digital records and submit digital VAT returns electronically via new API-Enabled products (meaning a set of clearly defined methods of communications between various software products) and NOT via VAT online from your first VAT return period on or after 1st April 2019. That means if you are currently using desktop software like Sage or Quickbooks, running your business via an Excel spreadsheet or perhaps not even keeping digital records at all, you should be making the switch to a cloud-based platform- and the time to do it is now. As Xero migration certified accountants and Gold partners, we will run through the software to show how it can work practically day-to-day and reduce the manual inputting of data. If you'd like more information about the event please email Mitch on [email protected] or call 0151 348 8400.
