Walk - Run Group


We are called RIOT, Running Is Our Therapy.  A new free exercise group has started in Birchington.If you're looking to get fit with like-minded people then this is the group for you.  The sessions are free and open to anyone.  We have 4 groups:  walking only group - if anyone would like to step up and take the lead whilst you are out that would be great otherwise I ask that you look out for each other for safety reasons. 1:30/2:00 minute run with a 1:00 minute walk group - led by Claire 5:00 minute run with a 1:00 minute walk group - led by Susan Constant running group - led by James Once a month walking/running will be changed to fitness training/games - these will be set as events in the group page. Everyone is responsible for their own health and safety, if you are unsure about starting something new please consult your GP.  Dress appropriately for the weather conditions, including the correct fitting footwear and brightly coloured clothing and if possible whilst the evenings are still dark a head or chest torch. Canterbury Treasure Hunt with 20% off at the finishing Treasure (the pub)


Single route - for 1-2 people or 2-4 people is great for seeing the sights and using your brain. Once the ticket is redeemed via email your treasure hunt pack will be mailed out to you so please provided your address in your email. The Hunt starts at Westgate Towers and takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete, solving clues and riddles and puzzles as you wind through Canterbury viewing the sites of the city and trying to find the "Treasure" - The pub, where you simply show your Treasure Hunt to the staff to get your 20% discount from your food and drinks bill. Compassionate Mindfulness Meditation - BRM


Regular meditators have been shown to have 'younger brains' than non meditators! Compassion based mindfulness meditation helps maintain brain function and supports wellbeing. It is secular, can be practised by anyone and is simple to learn. No previous experience or special training is necessary, just come and practice. This method requires meditators to sit comfortably, typically in a chair and to follow the instructions of the experienced teacher.  Brain Renewal Meditation (BRM) follows traditional meditation methods developed through the latest cognitive psychology and neuroscience research. It has long been established that aspects of brain health and physical wellbeing can be improved by regular meditation. BRM is simple and intuitive and includes three elements closely associated with a range of health benefits; compassion, mindfulness and awareness of both self and other. Unfortunately the performance of the human brain typically starts to decline before the age of 30, signs are apparent in our 40's and mild cognitive impairment and dementia can develop in later life. The evidence shows that regular meditation is linked to maintaining a younger healthier brain, this obviously can have great benefits throughout the lifecycle.   FAQs   Is it suitable for non meditators? Many people attending are likely to be new to meditation or have limited experience.   Will I be able to do it? Almost everyone can do it, it is a form of training so it will require some effort but it is appropriate for adults of all ages.   Is the teacher qualified or experienced? Our teachers tend to be amongst the most qualified and experienced of any meditation teachers. The Canterbury class is run by a trained cognitive psychologist/neuroscientist with extensive experience of traditional and contemporary meditation systems.   Are discounts available for advanced bookings? Yes as we teach relatively small groups we cut down on a lot of admin time if people book several weeks at a time. We pass these savings on to our meditators. Significant discounts are available for bookings of 3 weeks, 5 weeks or 10 weeks. Singalong Christmas


It’s the spectacular, big-screen, live-action/animated Christmas story told through recent hits and parodies, silhouetted mime, dance, puppets, lights and lots and lots of audience participation. With some new songs added for this year, some updated scenes as well as introducing some new puppets, let our 35+ members of the Choir, Cast and Crew (and our sheep and camels) present the beauitiful Christmas story of how a tiny baby shows everyone that they're hugely loved! Please note: there are no carols sung at this event and there will be flashing images and lights in use in the production.

Open Access Morning at Turner Contemporary


Please join us for a festive Open Access Morning at Turner Contemporary Saturday 22nd December 09:00 - 11:00 We will be opening up the gallery early for children with autistic spectrum conditions. Sound levels in the gallery will be reduced and visitors will be free to explore the galleries in a calm and relaxed atmosphere before the public start arriving. Visitors can take part in a Festive family creative session run by Margate Maker Zoe Murphy, get hands on with our sensory Starbags and explore the exhibition with resources from our Learning trolley. Refreshments available. Suitable for children and young people aged 5-16. Siblings and children with other types of SEND are very welcome. Spaces are limited, so please register to secure your place. Attendees will be sent an information pack in advance. NOTE: Before you attend your first session you must join Resort Studios as a Facilities Member. This costs £35 a year. PLEASE JOIN ONLINE HERE: resortstudios.bigcartel.com/product/annual-facilities-membership You are booking: Wednesday afternoon session: 2pm to 5pmEach session costs £15InductionsAll new users must undergo an induction and will be assessed on their ability to work safely and independently. If we think you need a refresher we will recommend you attend a workshop. Inductions take one hour and the price is included in the first session fee. Screenprint/etching/relief When you book you will be asked to choose which area of the studio you wish to use. This is so we can control numbers and make sure everyone has access to the equipment they need. Cancellations All bookings are final Access Please note the studio is up two flights of stairs. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access. FAQs Will there be someone to help me? We will be available to answer general questions but you will be expected to work unassisted for the majority of the time. If you are a beginner you will need to take a workshop first. What do I need to bring? Everything we provide is listed on the facilities page of the Hello Print Studio website. You will need to bring everything else. You cannot store anything at the studio, except drying prints. Can I buy materials? We sell newsprint, tissue, somerset and cartridge paper, black ink for all processes and copper/zinc plates. Can I hire a screen? You can hire a screen from us at a price of £5 a week. You cannot remove the screen from the studio. What about coating screens? We provide photo-emulsion for coating screens at a charge of £2/£5 depending on size. I did some printmaking a while ago, can I use the facilities? We would recommend a refresher workshop for anyone who hasn't printed in the last year. If you want to discuss this with us, please get in touch. Can I bring an assistant/friend? If you have a disability which means you need assistance you can bring someone for free but you will both need to take an induction before using the studio. You must be working on the same project. All other helpers must be booked and paid for separately. Are children allowed in the studio? No, we cannot allow under-18s in the studio, sorry. Dogs? No, sorry. Kittens? Oh alright, go on then.
