Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing Project Launch Event


The University of Sunderland are pleased to announce the launch of their new £5.1M Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing Project. SAM (Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing) is an ERDF Project managed by The University of Sunderland. The aim of the project is to support product / process and technology developments within the SME Manufacturing base in the North East LEP area. University of Sunderland has received the European Structural and Investments Fund grant for the Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing project. The project will help to improve the productivity and sustainability of manufacturing SMEs in the North East LEP area by finding solutions to their research, innovation and development challenges.    The launch event is Thursday 28th June 2018 with 3 sessions to support your diary commitments. The three events are 8.30am / 12 noon and 4.30pm, with registration open 30mins beforehand at each session for pre-event networking. The project support streams include: The objective of the launch sessions are to give you an overview of the SAM project and its funded support and uniquely to give you as an SME Manufacturing decision maker the opportunity to network with a large number of ERDF project provisions across the North East. This collaboration gives significant value in the networking element. Representatives from RTC North (including the Scale-Up Project) / NE-BIC / Digital Catapult / Materials Processing Institute / NBSL / BEEP / NEAA and many more will be at all three events to support you in understanding the funded landscape within the region. There will also be the opportunity to see some of the Facilities available via AMAP and SAM project at The Industry Centre, and demonstration from some technology partners such as Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (who will be sponsoring our Metrology Factory). Apple Regional Training Centres deliver courses to build the skills and confidence of educators to use Apple technology inside and outside the classroom. They are a community who share best practices and inspire excellence through teaching with Apple technology. Being selected as an Apple Regional Training Centre highlights our commitment to facilitating training for teachers to develop skills and build confidence to use Apple technology in the classroom.  Apple Regional Training Centres create a community to share best practice and support teaching staff to attain Apple Teacher status, a professional learning programme designed to support and celebrate educators. Teachers from across the region can attend courses to build their knowledge and skills using technology in the classroom and earn badges to achieve their Apple Teacher recognition. Across the UK and Ireland, the goals of all Apple Regional Training Centres are to: • facilitate training opportunities for teachers to develop skills using Apple technology in the classroom • promote Apple in Education and share new products and innovations with educators • build Apple Teacher across the region • share best practices, build community and inspire excellence.
