Preparing Your Child For The School Years

This workshop is focused on putting your child in the best place, mentally and emotionally for beginning their school years.Mental Health not illness is very much misunderstood, and its getting worse year on year. The good news is that from all the methodologies out there, one has stood the test of time, a mothers intuition. An inbuilt gift that provides you with a knowing what to do.You’d think that in the age of Google and all the internet advice 'out there' emotional health and wellbeing would be excellent. It isnt. Its getting worse year on year. It was in fact much better in a pre-internet age, when we were children.

This workshop will tackle: 1.  Stress, its cause and how to handle it. Understanding the source of stress, and how to be more effective in stressful situations will allow you to be, more effective, and create the most productive outcomes. 2. Worklife balance. How to make the very most of this precious time with your children now, but still juggling the demands of a career or very busy home life with siblings, family etc. As well as of course the much-needed time for your own rest and relaxation and enjoyment.  In these tender years there is a magic that will never be repeated in later life or an opportunity to go back and revisit. 3. Developing a better perception or understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses. Awareness, or knowing oneself a little better, being able to see ourselves as others see us especially through a child’s eyes is very important to developing stronger bonds and connections. Not just to those we care about but also those that we are maybe not aware of, who see us from a distance. 4.  Managing feelings and emotions. There are always situations where we feel we could have done better in this regard. Understanding this skill set is equally important when it comes to understanding and managing the feelings and emotions of our children. 5. AnxietyThere are many, many definitions and many forms of advice available. There is however one simple and effective solution which you will discover at this event. After attending this workshop you will feel so much more confident about having given your child all they need to tackle the big wide world that awaits. And importantly help prevent future issues allowing them to face life as confident, well-rounded, happy individuals. Able to absorb all of the knowledge and intelligence that will be available to them.

Batik Workshop - 22 August 2018

An opportunity to explore the Batik process for all ages. Batik is a "resist" process for making designs on fabric. The artist uses wax to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth, leaving "blank" areas in the dyed fabric. The process, wax resist then dye, can be repeated over and over to create complex multicolored designs. Fabric swatches will be provided but feel free to bring along any fabric items, (preferably white), that you would like to decorate, pillow case, T-Shirt etc. (Please be aware that Batik uses hot wax to create designs)

August ‘Netwalking’ Event from The White Horse

Brentwood Chamber of Commerce Netwalking events are an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow members and find out what is happening in the world of business in Brentwood. Netwalking is a totally different concept from regular networking, combining the relaxed informality of a walk in the countryside with a chance to share the experience with some different people. Walking tends to encourage conversation, and there is a natural tendency to chat and mingle with fellow walkers. The walk will commence from the pub car park. We will walk at a leisurely pace, for approximately an hour and a half, followed by an opportunity to enjoy a drink. If you can’t join us for the walk, but would like to come along for a drink later, you would be very welcome. Non-members are welcome to join us and discover one of the many benefits of being a member of Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. Feel free to bring a guest with you. Dogs are also welcome and walks will go ahead whatever the weather! PLEASE REGISTER FOR A FREE TICKET, SO THAT WE HAVE AN IDEA OF HOW MANY PEOPLE TO EXPECT
