All Weather Tots - 2019

Back in January! Six week block ticket now available :) Outdoor play session at Highway Farm which is ten minutes from Redruth, Cornwall. Fridays, term time only 10am to 11.30. Suitable for children crawling through to starting school. It is cheaper to book earlier - if you book up to 10pm on Thursday it's a £1 less.  This is a session where you and your child have lots of outside space to explore in all weathers. There's a creative 'starter' each week but no set 'craft' that you have to replicate. This is about free play and creativity, take the lead from your child :) The kettle will be on when you arrive, feel free to bring children's drinks and snacks.I'm Niki, my background is early years, children with special needs and Forest School, I also have four grown up children of my own. I have a DBS check, I am a Playworker, have a degree in Early Years Education and am an Advanced Forest School Leader and Trainer. I'm passionate about children playing out! Here are some photos of what we've been up to before  THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW Please bring extra layers and waterproofs, the farm has a micro-climate all of its own We run whatever the weather - clue in the title! The only time this may change is if there is a Met Office Weather Warning. In which case please check your email, or Facebook messages before you leave. I will make a decision at least an hour before the session. No need to print your tickets out I have a list We have a fire if it is cold and some shelter, but no indoor space. I will make you a cuppa and we have almond milk not dairy. We have a compost loo Please wait in the car park and I will come down and pick you up at ten Mud is involved - please wear old clothes! Extra adults - sometimes it's nice to bring your partner, visiting granny, help - because may be you're really pregnant and can't chase afer that child - that's great and nine times out of ten is not a problem. Please let me know beforehand so that I bring enough cups. My priority is the children's play environment so if I had a week where everyone wanted to bring Great Auntie Ethel I may say no, this is because a hoard of adults standing in a group around small children playing is not a great play environment, much as I love Great Auntie Ethel ;) So please just check first. SIBLINGS - please note that a sibling icket needs to be bought in conjunction with a First Child ticket. (We need a minimum of four families to run a session. We are called All Weather Tots but we do not run when safety is an issue such as gale force winds or heavy snow. Please check your email before leaving in case we cancel - this has only happened twice) CANCELLATIONS - If I cancel I will offer you another session or full refund. If you are unable to come for any reason I may be able to offer another session if the one that you have booked on is full, this is at my discretion. Hope to meet you soon :) Quotes from parents 'Perfect, I've arranged my job around it' 'I like being outside, the great environment to explore, the balance of freedom and facilitation. And the beverage!' I am independant of Highway Farm but should you wish to find out more about nursery places, please email the team here - [email protected]

BLW Skills Sessions: Emulsion Screen Print at Kiwi Print Studio

Back Lane West is partnering up with some of Cornwall’s most exciting artists and makers to bring you artist intensives, introducing you to some of the resources available in the county, helping to build on your current practice and find contemporary ways of using traditional skills. Join Dena O’Brien and Ella Brett at Kiwi Print Studio for a day of emulsion screen printing using your own practice as a starting point. You are invited to bring ideas and images from your own practice to the session to base your design around. These could take any form, from; landscapes and architecture to forms, shape, pattern, and words. The session will begin with drawing and mark making using ‘true grain’, which is a film you can make marks directly onto and will then be exposed onto the screens. Kiwi have a wide range of materials including, pens, inks, china marker, graphite sticks to use for experimental mark making, creating diverse textures and layers. You will be supported to consider the possibilities for your composition as a screen print, with the potential for printing your design twice in two separate colours. The cost of the workshop will be £70.  Designs can be kept on the screen for a few weeks and participants are invited to come back and use the studio's open access scheme to further their work, for £7 an hour or £40 a day This workshop is specifically for artists with an ongoing practice.   FAQs   What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
