#NatWestBoost #Women in Business Kendal

Annette and I would be delighted if you could join us for this our last WIB meeting for 2018. If you've not been before it is an informal event. A meeting of like minded business women where you can network, share ideas and make new business colleagues. There is no fee or membership and it is open to customers of NatWest and non customers. Light refreshents will be available and please don't forget your businesscards. Our first speakers will be Ashley Holden & Michelle Foulerton from Green House Floristry. A very experienced duo that have just entered into a new business venture together in Kendal. They are not on the high Street and are offering a floral workshop with a difference.  They will be talking weddings, parties, festive fermentation & Pickling, wrapping and wreath making!  Our second speaker is Cheryl Jones, MD of nxoCommunications. She earned her marketing stripes in the corporate world, working at Makro Wholesalers and Iceland Foods. Based in Manchester for many years, she is now located in North Lancashire and runs a business which serves the SME community, offering expert advice and guidance on strategic marketing, branding and communications. A local lass, Kendal born and bred, she is now perfectly situated to help businesses in the South Cumbria region who are looking to improve their employee communications and connect better with their customers. Have you ever wondered why you find some people easier to get along with than others? Effective communication builds a cohesion team in the workplace which ultimately leads to happier, more productive employees. Our styles of communication are varied and we can often lack the self-awareness and understanding of how other people perceive us. Cheryl is a certified facilitator of Everything DiSC Workplace Profiling and will be sharing with us some fascinating insights into styles of communication. This fun, interactive session will include a card game - with a twist. With the aim of helping you to start to build more effective relationships, she will share with you some of her vast knowledge of communications and how it can help your business to enrich its situation. Tree Charter Celebratory Walk

Come and join us for a walk in Grizedale Forest on Tree Charter Day. Wrap up warm for a saunter through the varied woodlands, with stops along the way at some of the sculptures. If the weather's kind we'll head up to treefold:centre and the high point of Carron Crag. We'll then descend along the wide forest tracks and follow paths that cut through old deciduous woodland back to lower ground and the Tree Pole - one of the tree poles installed in 2017 to celebrate the Tree Charter.  November 24th is Tree Charter day. Across the UK there will be events to mark the Tree Charter, which was signed and established one year ago. We're delighted to be charter champions, and to play our part in standing up for trees. The Tree Charter has ten princples, and the pole in Grizedale marks the value of trees in strengthening landscapes. Harriet's poem, carved into the pole, reflects this. What to Bring Please wear sturdy walking boots and bring warm and waterproof clothes (including gloves and a hat), and a walking pole if you need this. The terrain will be uneven in parts. Bring a flask with a warm drink if you'd like to, and some snacks. We have timed the walk so that the cafe will be open when we finish, if you'd like to make use of it.  As we walk we're fairly certain that issues of trees, landscape and enviroment will come into our conversations; there will be some poetry as well, and if you'd like to share a poem, please bring it with you.  When and where to meet Meet at the Grizedale Visitor Centre reception, opposite the Cafe, by 10.30am. Staying in Touch There is no guaranteed mobile phone reception at the Grizedale Visitor Centre. If you book to join the walk but your plans change please text a message to 07813 829368 by 0930am. Thank you.  Any questions? If you have any questions, please email us: [email protected]
