Quality Mark Workshop - Ashford

Stronger Kent Communities will be hosting the next Kent-wide workshop featuring the REVAMP (Recognition of Excellent Volunteer Management & Practice) Quality Mark as part of the Stronger Kent Community Fair in Ashford - these fairs are aimed at promoting and celebrating the community.  The purpose of the REVAMP Quality Mark is to both showcase and increase best practice in Volunteer Management across Kent This free workshop is geared towards organisations seeking to implement best practice in volunteer management and forms the basis for potential submission for the REVAMP Quality Mark and will look at  how volunteer management should be:    Open, Equal & Fair:  volunteering is open to everyone & recruitment is fair and accessible    Enjoyable – how your organisation aims to deliver a good volunteering experience    Focussed – that your organisation has appropriate policies for managing volunteers.    Organised & Supported – that volunteers are supported and supervised within their roles    Impactful – that volunteers have the training and information needed to carry out their roles    Safe – relevant legal requirements are met. The REVAMP Quality Mark is a low cost, straightforward process which will enable you to show that your organisation offers meaningful and well-supported opportunities to existing and potential volunteers. Colour Linocut workshop - weekend

Colour Linocut Workshop Tutor: Nick Morley In this two day workshop you will learn how to design, carve and print multi-block linocuts in colour. You will learn what tools to use and how to keep them sharp, how to plan, carve and print a multi-block linocut and how to register the different layers to make sure they align accurately. You will learn how to mix colour and how to control the intensity and shade through tinting, transparency and varying the amount of colour on the block. There will be plenty of time for experimentation, through which you will learn how to create new colours through layering and how to create a colour blend. About Linocut Linocut is a popular printmaking technique which can easily be practised at home with very little equipment. It is very versatile, allowing for both bold, expressive marks and controlled detail. By varying the way the block is inked and printed a variety of textures can be created. About the Tutor Nick Morley, aka Linocutboy, has been making linocuts for more than ten years. His works have appeared on book covers, magazines and chilli sauce labels and his prints are collected worldwide. His book, Linocut for Artists and Designers, was published in 2016. More info This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some printmaking experience. The workshop is limited to 6 participants. All materials will be provided but you may want to bring a sketchbook/notebook. You will be given a protective apron to wear but we advise you not to wear your best clothes, just in case! The workshop runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday to Sunday, with an hour break for lunch. Please aim to arrive at 10.15am on Saturday so we can start on time.
