Bandsaw Training


The bandsaw is one of the most versatile machines in the workshop. Our bandsaw training course is designed to teach you all of the basics of the machine. Learn how to set the machine up and use it safely. Be guided by your tutor as they pass on their skills, knowledge and experience and show you how to get the best out of this very useful machine. What you will learn Our introductory course aims to teach you all the basics of the bandsaw. Start your day with an in-depth look into the machine and an explanation of each component. Then go on to discuss what each of the components does and its functions within the machine. With a step-by-step guide, you will learn how to set up the machine including the blade changing process. Furthermore, your tutor will discuss with you the different blades available and their uses. Throughout the course you will have practical use on the machine, including safe cutting when using the machine for different tasks. Additional information At the end of the course you will be able to take home a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ alongside the wealth of knowledge you have learnt on the bandsaw. You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety brief and a breakdown and review of the equipment you will be using. The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the course and must not be left unattended during class hours. Learn how to carve and grasp the opportunity to experience the creativity and joy of woodcarving. Whether you are just beginning to discover woodcarving or have some experience, our three-day course will introduce and develop key skills and techniques. Be guided by your tutor as you learn the stages and work towards producing your own carving. What you will learn You will learn how to carve using a wide range of traditional and modern tools with the opportunity to use a power carver. With guidance from your tutor, you will work through the stages to create your finished piece. Alongside this, your tutor will impart their skills and knowledge and advise you on proportion, movement and realism. If you are a beginner you can expect to gain the knowledge you need to start carving knowing you are on the right path from the beginning. If you already have experience in carving this is a great opportunity for you to develop your skills and take you on to the next step.
