Introduction to Belly Dancing with Laura


Laura is excited to share this unapologetically feminine form of dance with an attitude of body acceptance and sisterhood on the third Thursday of every month from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. (You are welcome to dance in socks or flat, ballet slipper styled shoes.) Laura first discovered belly dance in 1995 at the University of Toronto’s recreational centre’s program of dance classes. She has experience working in both an acute mental health setting and on a community treatment team, known as ACTT.  Maneet is currently focused on completing her Masters of Nursing, where her thesis work is focused on studying the experience of the South Asian Punjabi community on accessing services for depression. Jasmeet Chagger, co-founder of SOCH, is a Registered Nurse also working in the field of mental health for over 6 years. She has previous experience working on an in-patient unit at Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) and currently works on a community treatment team, known as ACTT. She has also embarked her journey for her Masters of Nursing at McMaster University focusing on the issue of addictions within the South Asian population.
