The Adventures Of Doctor Dolittle: Illyria Theatre (Over 5s)

THE ADVENTURES OF DOCTOR DOLITTLE by Hugh Lofting When Doctor John Dolittle of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh is taught by his wise old parrot Polynesia how to talk to animals, news of his skills spreads far and wide. Soon animals across the world send messages asking for his help. So, he buys a leaky old ship and, together with his trusty pet-crew of Jip the dog, Chee-Chee the monkey, Dab-Dab the Duck and permanently hungry Gub-Gub the pig, sets forth on a mission to heal illness, spread compassion and gain a greater understanding of the animal kingdom. A funny, much-loved and exciting adventure, with a strong message about responsibility towards animals and the environment, this show is created by the same Illyria team who brought you an entire menagerie of animal puppets in DANNY THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD and a life-size T-Rex in THE LOST WORLD. The show is suitable for cheeky monkeys aged 5+.

Jennifer Taylor

Jennifer Taylor works with film and live performance to create absurd scenarios that explore ritualistic behaviour and obscure ceremonial practices. She uses abandoned structures in remote landscapes as found stage sets. Ancient Neolithic burial chambers and obscure towers in Wales provide surreal, displaced settings that bring a sense of post-apocalyptic degeneration. Taylor was recently featured in The Guardian for a performance piece in Rome (pictured). You will have a chance to see one of her performances at an exhibition closing event on the 14 July at 7.30pm. If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch. Please check the website and sign up to our mailing list for details of these (free) events. Mae Jennifer Taylor yn gweithio gyda ffilm a pherfformiad byw i greu senarios abswrd sy'n archwilio ymddygiad defodol ac ymarferion seremoniol astrus. Mae'n defnyddio hen strwythurau mewn tirweddau anghysbell fel setiau llwyfan parod. Mae siambrau claddu Neolithig hynafol a thyrrau rhyfedd yng Nghymru yn darparu gosodiadau swreal, dadleoledig sy'n creu teimlad o ddirywiad ol-apocolyptaidd. Cafodd Taylor ei hamlygu yn ddiweddar yn The Guardian am ddarn perfformiad yn Rhufain. Cewch gyfle i weld un o'i pherfformiadau mewn digwyddiad cloi'r arddangosfa ar 14 Gorffennaf am 7.30yh. Os oes gennych ddiddordeb mewn cymryd rhan, cysylltwch a ni. Gwiriwch y wefan a thanysgrifiwch at ein rhestr bostio am fanylion y digwyddiadau (di-dal) hyn.
