Community lunch

Community lunches will take place on the second and fourth Thursday each month between 10am and 2pm in the small meeting room at Settle Quaker Meeting House. Provisionally called Community Munchers but open to suggestions on the name! Join us for a sociable gathering for all ages to cook and eat together. If you have any odd bits of food in your cupboards that you bought with good intentions but never used, bring them along. Our meet ups tend to be a bit 'Ready, Steady, Cook' and we see what we have and then decide what to cook. Usually will be a soup,  main course and some sort of cake or pudding. We may also look at doing themed weeks where we learn some specific cooking skills. Please bring some plastic tubs to so you can take away any leftovers. The idea is that people can meet up anytime from 10am for a cuppa and a chat.. then everyone will help out to prepare lunch. Whether you can cook or not there are always jobs to do, helping chopping, collecting ingredients, laying the table, serving, washing up.. and you can learn some cookery skills. If you want to join us later or can't stay for long that is fine, just let us know.  The Quakers is a fully accessible venue with plenty of space for wheelchairs or parking scooters. There will always be gluten free options available and we can also cater for vegan or other diets if you let us know. There will be no official charge but a suggested donation of £3 (or whatever you can afford) on the day would be much appreciated. This is still a bit of a work in progress so if you have any suggestions or would like to help out in any way get in touch. Please let us know if you plan to come so we know how many to feed. For more info or to book please email Sarah Wiltshire on [email protected] or phone or text 07419 127988. Huge thanks to the Two Ridings Community Foundation and their North Yorkshire Reward programme who have awarded the hub a grant through the Life Less Lonely programme to run these lunches and other Settle Timebankactivities. We really appreciate their support. Many thanks also to Booths supermarket who are helping us with donations of food for these lunches. We would also like to thank The Courtyard Dairy for their scones and Wholesome Bee for donations of basic ingredients and herbs. We really appreciate your support.

At Workshop Media we believe that every business and person has a story.  When that story is told as clearly as possible, it fulfils potential. Workshop Media is on a mission to help businesses understand their story and share their messages.  Through straightforward ideas, real world tools and a service designed around the practical needs of business, we remove the blocks that get in the way of business storytelling. This results in simple, powerful strategies that are focused on the business, it’s goals and its customers. Unlocking Video Marketing will run monthly until April 2019.  If video use for business is a topic that interests you, find a date that works for you and book! The Power of Video Online video is one of the most powerful tools currently available to tell stories and share messages. Through the blend of pictures and sound, as well as the technology to capture them, every business now has the chance to reach their customers and move them to action. But in the rush to try and follow the trend, business owners and managers are missing key insights that can help avoid wasting time and money. The Keys to Video Marketing In Unlocking Video Marketing, David ‘DT’ Guest will guide you through the key points needed to create a video marketing strategy for your business. You will discover: Is video right for you? Where do you benchmark yourself against other business’? How far do you want to take video? What types of video work where? What do your customers want to see and hear? What is the best way to present your business authentically through video? How do you create video messages to tell your story clearly? Action for Happiness Get-Together

Action for Happiness Get-Togethers are an opportunity to meet-up with like-minded people near you to tune in to what really matters, connect to others and find practical ways to take action. The Get-Togethers on the first Friday each month are based on the format of the popular Exploring What Matters course and combine this with the themes of monthly Action Calendars to create simple, exciting and insightful sessions suitable for anyone. The third Friday gatherings will be more flexible and content and activities will be decided by the group. We might use other Action for Happiness resources, craft activities, mindfulness and relaxation sessions, speakers on topics such as sleep, positive thinking, healthy eating etc. You do not need to have attended the Exploring What Matters course to join in. Anyone is welcome. These events are free but donations would be appreciated. Many thanks to the Champions Show the Way project which is part of  Bradford District Care Trust for their  support with these sessions.
