Photography Night Shoot

The Shuttleworth Collection is really pleased to be bringing back the photography night shoot in 2018. This hugely popular event will be on October 13th and is a great opportunity to get images of select aircraft and vehicles with atmospheric lighting. The event will start at 5pm, giving visitors a chance to capture images in the lovely ‘blue hour’ when day turns to night. Three aircraft will be set up on the idyllic grass airfield with flood lighting illuminating them in both static poses with re-enactors and with engines running later in the evening. 2018 will see the night shoot debut for the newly restored Spitfire, which will give you a chance to see the flames from the fighter’s merlin engine exhausts. Back by popular demand, the Westland Lysander will also be giving a demonstration of how it would have looked at night, when landing on an occupied French field. If the weather allows, it is hoped to have one of the collections older aircraft also taking part. In addition to the aircraft, some of The Collections wonderful vehicles will be displayed alongside the aircraft and a special set up with our beautiful buses will add something rather special to the night. This event is open to anyone with a camera, but it is recommended that you have a basic understanding of night photography in order to make the most of the event. The use of flash will not be permitted during the engine run part of the evening and it is recommended that you use a tripod if you have one. A great deal of thought is put into the layout of our event to ensure that all those attending have a chance to get a good view and capture great images. Our official collection photographers will be on hand to offer advice if needed and there will be a welcome talk from our Shuttleworth team. The entry price includes a hot drink and meal with a time set aside for you to enjoy this hospitality during the event. We aim to conclude the engine runs by 21.00 so that you can be on your way home at a practical time.

The Business Community Hub Network - Luton

A FREE monthly Business Networking hub in Luton ran by NatWest, Just Clarity and The Community Hub to help you make the right connections and boost your Business.  This event has been running successfully in Hitchin and Luton since 2017. A monthly Networking group held every 3rd Tuesday of the month We understand the value of networking activities to help support the growth of businesses. Our aim: is to provide a forum which falls in between the most formal and informal networking formats, where individuals on the day will discover exactly who is in the room and what each person is looking to gain from attending. We will give everybody a few seconds to provide the following information: What do you do? What support do you need from the business community? Who do you need to meet or speak to? What do you need to know to help you progress your business? How can you help your business hub connections? What else? Along with Networking there will also be a 10-15 minute group discussion on various topics that will add value to your business. The topics will be drawn from the previous month’s meeting, and a consensus as to what the group feels would be useful to them and their businesses. We welcome suggestions of topics that you would think would help you as an attendee. Perhaps the discussions can be based around your area of expertise. If you would be interested in taking part as the expert for the discussion, please contact Kym Nahar (NatWest) 07825973074 or Emma Jaynes (Just Clarity) 07791520388 and we will contact you when we are covering the topic in which you specialise. When you register via the Eventbrite link, you can opt in to the public delegate register *. This will allow you to benefit from knowing who will be attending in advance of the day. We would also encourage you to ‘like’ and visit The Business Community Hub Page https://www.facebook.com/communityhublive/ where you can keep in touch with your fellows in the business community and offer each other support and guidance throughout the month, if you wish. ** Join us on the third Tuesday of every month, to meet likeminded businesses and professionals. Remember to bring plenty of business cards, along with a smile! *The public delegate register is linked to Facebook via Eventbrite – you can only access this function if you have a Facebook account. If you do not have a Facebook account and would like your fellows to know you are attending, please join the Meetup group - Community Hub Meetup **Posts will be monitored to ensure appropriate use. The emphasis is on helping and supporting local business and an ethos of contributing to the community, rather than ‘cold’ advertising. Please be mindful when you post in the page. Thank you! Understanding Trauma - Intentional Peer Support Group

Understanding Trauma is one of ALF's Intentional Peer Support Groups (IPSGs). Trauma can often be the root cause of many, if not most, Mental, Emotional, and Addiction challenges and unresolved trauma can lead to Mental health challenges which are often diagnosed as other things. Trauma does not have to have been caused by major catastrophe. Often, it can arise from many different situations including: living in a dysfunctional or addictive family; ex service personnel; abusive relationships; or bullying, for example. Trauma is the result of a natural survival mechanism which has gone awry. Symptoms of trauma include: anxiety, panic attacks, flashbacks, depression, OCD, and sometimes other disturbing emotions and experiences including irrational thinking, delusional behaviour, paranoia, and hallucinations. What we do? In this intentional group, we will teach people about trauma, and the techniques that can be used to quieten it down and resolve it.  Our facilitators include a Harley Street based specialist trauma therapist, as well as those with a background in psychology, counselling, Peer Coaching and Peer Support. All facilitators have lived experience of trauma of some form or other. What to do next? If you have experienced trauma, or think you may have done, or you care for someone who has been traumatised, you are welcome to join our group. You can turn up on the evening on alternate Thursdays at the DRC building, or you can call Keith ot Emma for an initial chat on 07834 655171 / 07791 520388 or 01767 200129. Altenatively, you can email us at : [email protected] Please visit our website: www.alfcic.org if you would like some more information about our services. We look forward to meeting you.
