Taster Sessions for Professionals


Come and experience what its like to be a participant of TheHorseCourse.  This 1hr taster session is aimed at professionals who want to understand more about what our ReStart course entails for participants and learn about how we achieve engagement and start to build the 8 core skills of assertiveness, focus, taking responsibility, emapthy, calmness, planning and analysis, communication and confidence as a learner. This a hands on session with our specially trained horses and highly experienced facilitators. Free of charge for service providers. Why us? Our well-evidenced ReStart programme relies in part on our specialism in reading body language and responding non-verbally to increase rapport, engagement and calmness. This comes originally from our background in natural horsemanship but is now part of a tried and tested methodology with highly anxious or challenging participants. Our 95% retention rate says it all!This Non-verbals Toolbox programme was developed through a DCC Innovation Award 2016. Feedback from NHS mental health teams, D&A workers, school staff and social workers has been excellent, with an average score of 9.5/10, across 110 professionals.

Jane Hurdiss - How do young children learn?


How do young children learn? This course will include an overview of - - Child Development  - Brain Development  - Development of Language and Play About Jane - Jane Hurdiss is an EYFS Specialist with extensive experience of leading and teaching in Dorset Schools. As a Headteacher, Jane led the Grove Infants School, Portland to OUTSTANDING Ofsted School Status. Jane has recently completed her Masters Degree in Early Years Education. Jane has a passion to see school’s embrace good EYFS practice and a develop a whole-school culture which promotes independent learning.
