Barista Course We have been running Barista courses at our own coffee shop for over 4 years, come along and learn some coffee skills.  Be it for personal use at home, a great present or for those wanting to aquire the techniques to become a Barista. The coffee course covers both theory and practical; • Perfecting an espresso and extraction times • The origins of coffee • Explores different types of coffee • Explains the workings of an espresso machine and grinder • How to operate a coffee machine • Maintenance and cleaning of the coffee machine • Setting up the grinder • How to tamp correctly • Milk steaming and how to create microfoam • Making a range of coffees including; Espresso, Macchiato, Latte, Cappuccino, Long Black and Flat White The course will run for approximately 2.5 hours and includes a theory talk on coffee, hands on practical experience of making your very own drinks and a certificate. Afternoon Workshop - 2pm Evening Workshop - 7pm 47% of Irish smokers will try to quit smoking this year*. Unfortunately, with the rise in popularity of electronic cigarettes, fewer smokers are turning to pharmacy for help.  This free workshop is designed to will give you a better understanding of smokers, and how pharmacy is ideally placed to help people quit.  Topics covered: The changed face of smoking in Ireland Understanding smokers - the physical, mental and habitual addiction. The growth of electronic cigarettes -  How pharmacy can stay relevant. Why there's much more to quitting than products alone. Establishing a stop smoking clinic within your pharmacy, and getting doctors to support it. Marketing your service. Delivered by a pharmacist, the workshop combines science with common sense. It explores the difficulties quitters may come across and deals with them in a straightforward, and often humorous way. It aims to show how smoking cessation can be clinically significant, professionally fulfilling, and fiancially rewarding for pharmacy.     About the speaker: Michael Walsh is a community pharmacist from Warrenpoint, Co. Down. He specialises in smoking cessation, and has lectured extensively on the subject. Mental Health Crisis Care- Awareness (Tewkesbury)


As part of a countywide drive to improve the care of those with mental health problems and to implement the MHCC Concordat a roll out of training to various agencies.  This half-day is designed to support mental health awareness for multi-agency  staff and build on their experience and knowledge of working with those presenting with mental health problems in crisis. It will introduce Mental Capacity and improve understanding of the underpinning principles and how it is assessed, including unwise decisions and our perceptions and attitudes to those who appear to have mental health problems and unwise decisions. The session then looks at anxiety, depression, a number of mental health disorders and how they might present. Two of the most concerning presentations are then explored, BPD and working with those who are suicidal. There may time to look at some other disorders.
