All Weather Tots - 2018

Outdoor play session at Highway Farm which is ten minutes from Redruth, Cornwall. Fridays, term time only 10am to 11.30. Suitable for children crawling through to starting school. This is a session where you and your child have lots of outside space to explore in all weathers. There's a creative 'starter' each week but no set 'craft' that you have to replicate. This is about free play and creativity, take the lead from your child :) The kettle will be on when you arrive, feel free to bring children's drinks and snacks.I'm Niki, my background is early years, children with special needs and Forest School, I also have four grown up children of my own. I have a DBS check, I am a Playworker, have a degree in Early Years Education and am an Advanced Forest School Leader and Trainer. I'm passionate about children playing out! Here are some photos of what we've been up to before  THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW Please bring extra layers and waterproofs, the farm has a micro-climate all of its own We run whatever the weather - clue in the title! The only time this may change is if there is a Met Office Weather Warning. In which case please check your email, or Facebook messages before you leave. I will make a decision at least an hour before the session. No need to print your tickets out I have a list We have a fire if it is cold and some shelter, but no indoor space. I will make you a cuppa and we have almond milk not dairy. We have a compost loo Please wait in the car park and I will come down and pick you up at ten Mud is involved - please wear old clothes! Extra adults - sometimes it's nice to bring your partner, visiting granny, help - because may be you're really pregnant and can't chase afer that child - that's great and nine times out of ten is not a problem. Please let me know beforehand so that I bring enough cups. My priority is the children's play environment so if I had a week where everyone wanted to bring Great Auntie Ethel I may say no, this is because a hoard of adults standing in a group around small children playing is not a great play environment, much as I love Great Auntie Ethel ;) So please just check first. (We need a minimum of four families to run a session. We are called All Weather Tots but we do not run when safety is an issue such as gale force winds or heavy snow. Please check your email before leaving in case we cancel - this has only happened twice) Hope to meet you soon :) Quotes from parents 'Perfect, I've arranged my job around it' 'I like being outside, the great environment to explore, the balance of freedom and facilitation. And the beverage!' I am independant of Highway Farm but should you wish to find out more about nursery places, please email the team here - [email protected]

Bringing like-minded people together in a comfortable space where it's ok to talk and it's ok to be quiet too. If you're feeling anxious in social situations, or maybe feeling shy or not good enough, this is a calm space for gently connecting with people of all ages who have similar stories, with no pressure to speak up or join in. Simply share space with genuinely understanding people who can be there for you if you need someone to talk to. We'll be providing plenty of arts and crafts materials for you to creatively self-care and express yourself. You're welcome to also bring along your own projects to do, a book to read or join us simply with the intention of chatting to someone with a similar story over a cuppa! We’re a community of understanding and a place for you to gently connect with other people, make friends, take time out for yourself and try new things, all at your own pace. Every Thursday morning at the Donald Thomas Centre, 19 Chapel Street, Camborne, TR14 8EG (next to The Post Office and opposite Barclays Bank).  Rosewarne Car Park (TR14 8BE) is a 4 minute walk away. Please contact Stacie with any questions, or if you'd like to be connected with someone before joining to ease any anxieties about attending. Email: [email protected] Dropping in on the day is fine, and it's helpful for us if you let us know you'll be joining us. When reserving your space, please donate what you can; every donation helps us to continue our much-needed work and support someone to reduce anxiety and isolation, and grow their confidence who would otherwise be unable to access help, and they're as grateful as we are.
