The Ancient Wisdom: an outline of Theosophical Teachings

We shall be reading the book: The Ancient Wisdom: an outline of Theosophical Teachings by Annie Besant.Together we will share our ideas, feelings, insights and understanding in response to the written material by Annie Besant.About the book: It is admitted on all hands that a survey of the great religions of the world shows they hold in common many religious, ethical and philosophical ideas. One suggested reason for this similarity is the existence of an original teaching in the custody of a Brotherhood of Teachers, Themselves the outcome of past cycles of evolution, who have acted as the instructors and guide of the child-humanity of our planet. Partial List of Contents: Astral Plane/Kamaloka/Man’s Ascent/Building a Cosmos. After our reading and discussion, a light lunch of vegan food will be provided.

Hands on Butchery

DESCRIPTION The hands-on butchery day at the Empire Farm is a very popular course and early booking is strongly advised. On this full day course you learn butchering skills so you can deal with your own meat. At the start of the day, you are provided with half a pig, and you work you way through the meat, butchering it under the guidance of our expert tutor. We end the day with a short sausage-making session, making use of all of the offcuts of meat produced during the butchery. If time permits, we will also cure some bacon. There are just 4 butchery places available on this course, so you get excellent supervision from our experienced butcher. The course offers exceptional value as you get to pack up and take home all the meat you have butchered and your batch of sausages, easily worth £150 if you had to buy it all in a supermarket. Observers – we can accommodate a couple of additional people on this course, either as observers or as a ‘second person’ working on the same piece of meat as one of the people paying the full price. There is a small fee of £50 to cover this. As few people have asked if they can bring their own pork to butcher which is possible, but please check with the office first and obviously there is a different pricing structure. You Can Export – Labelling and Packaging Sherborne

An outline of the workshop This workshop looks at how to develop your food and drink product for an overseas market.  What you’ll gain from the day From cultural considerations to practical packaging guidelines, over the course of the morning we will look at your product and put together a step by step guide to help you make sure it makes maximum impact when you start selling overseas within the European Union. Towards the end of the morning we will take a whistle stop tour of the legal and practical considerations to consider when selling overseas; an integrated part of your business development for 2019. You will come away with a step-by-step pathway to internationalising your product for European markets as well as an electronic guide to starting to look for legal requirements for exporting food and drink into the EU.  A limited number of 1-2-1 sessions with the facilitator will be available after the morning session on a first come first serviced basis. About Emilie Calhaem Emilie Calhaem has extensive exporting know-how. She worked in sales and business development for various small to medium size enterprises around the South West, including several food and drink companies. Emilie also worked for the Department for International Trade as an Export Manager on the Export for Growth programme; parachuted into businesses starting out on their export mission to help prepare their product, processes and people for the opportunities of exporting overseas. She now works in business development selling into USA ecommerce and speaks five European languages, whilst living overseas in Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. Who is this event for? This workshop is aimed at food and drink companies that are new to export or have only exported reactively and want to take a more proactive approach in 2019. Participants will need to provide a small list of target markets within Europe and an overview of their product offering before the event in order to help develop the step by step guide. Tapestry - The Story behind Bayeux — An evening with Kylie Fitzpatrick

The  Bayeux Tapestry  is the most famous embroidery in the world.  It’s origins are mysterious.  Although it tells the story of the victory of the Normans in 1066, it is believed to have been made in England in the eleventh century.  Last year, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that it would be loaned to Britain for public display. It is expected to be exhibited at the British Museum from 2022, first time that it has left France in 950 years. In her novel, Tapestry, Kylie Fitzpatrick sets out to unravel the mystery of the Tapestry,  exploring the story of medieval women who stitched it, and the dying days of Anglo-Saxon England.    “Fitzpatrick excels in presenting complex ideas and human frailty in the face of fear and desire” Saturday Telegraph “A novel of genuine power and conviction” Sunday Times £10 per ticketto carry on the conversation after the event join us for supper £15 Clubroom bar open from 6.30 pm; event starts promptly at 7pm.
