The Civic Tours

Auckland Live is rolling out the red carpet for the return of The Civic Tours, the much-loved walking tours of the iconic landmark that Aucklanders and visitors can’t get enough of. Led by knowledgeable and passionate tour guides, some of whom have worked in the venue, The Civic Tours offer an immersive, insider’s look into the workings of the historic landmark, its history, shows, backstage stories, and more. Offering exclusive access to areas usually reserved for the stars, The Civic Tours take you back to The Civic’s heyday in the 1930s and '40s, when it was a glamorous picture palace and theatre, staging spectacular shows and cabarets led by live bands, showgirls, and celebrities (Artie Shaw!) during the war years. Warm with nostalgia, The Civic Tours invite you to step inside a world of theatrical and architectural wonder, to hear the stories of the fight for The Civic when it faced the wrecker’s ball in the 1990s, and its triumphant restoration as one of the last remaining atmospheric theatres in the Southern Hemisphere. Starting in July, The Civic Tours are being held on weekday mornings as well as returning to the very popular Saturday slots. Each tour is an hour-long, with just 16 people in each tour group ensuring intimate access to the spaces and a rare opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with Auckland’s grand old lady of theatre and musicals.

Who we are is how we lead When the Dare to Lead™ research team asked senior executives around the world about the most important thing we can be cultivating, one answer stood above the rest: "We need braver leaders." We need leaders who know how to have courageous conversations. We need leaders who have a greater aspiration for how they want to be in the world.  We need leaders who are ready and willing to show up with their whole hearts. Many of the executives they spoke to had also made the assumption that people either have these characteristics or they don't—but that's not true. Through their research, the Dare to Lead™ team discovered a profound truth: courageous leadership consists of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable and observable. The Dare to Lead™ programme is your chance to learn these skills and put them into practice. How would your organisation change if you started having braver and fuller conversations with each other? Watch Brené describe Dare to Lead™ This experience is for you if:  + You are in a position of leadership within your organisation. + You see the potential in people and processes, and are willing to take responsibility for achieving that potential. + You are passionate about accelerating performance in yourself and others. + You have to navigate organisational change as part of your role. + You want to create braver, more resilient organisations and teams. In short, if you are ready to answer your call to courage, this experience is for you. What you will learn:  In this two-day workshop, you'll learn how to build brave cultures & drive performance by: + Defining leadership and how to navigate vulnerability + Leading with values + Building trust + Rising from setbacks This programme includes + Dare to Lead™ programme and materials + Lunch, morning and afternoon teas on both days + Opportunity to become Dare to Lead™ Participant Certified* About the Dare To Lead™ Programme Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building programme designed to be facilitated by organisational development professionals.
