Music Law

Contract terms, advances, royalties? The music business is underpinned by a seemingly complex and often baffling set of rights and notions. This session will see music lawyer Richard Hoare provide an overview of the most essential concepts and theory - with real-world examples of how they apply in practice, giving you the tools and confidence to better understand the modern music business. Richard is a music lawyer with over 15 years of experience. Previously a partner at leading music law firm Clintons, he now runs Hoare Associates, a unique, new-model legal consultancy based in Somerset, which focuses on advising a select roster of exceptional artists, and forward-thinking music businesses. Outside of work and family, his spare time is devoted to music - as a director of an 800 capacity community run music venue in Somerset; collector and DJ of old 45rpm records; founding board member of the Association For Electronic Music; trustee of a charity which runs choirs for homeless people; and most recently (after a 20 year break) slowly trying to learn to play the piano properly.  This event includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.  Refundable Deposit Please note that the £20.00 charge for this event is a deposit that will be refunded to you after you have attended the event. If you do not attend the event then your deposit will not be refunded unless you give us at least 24 hours notice.
