Concerts at the Courthouse featuring Air Margaritaville

A variety of local area musicians take center stage every Friday night throughout the summer on the lawn of the Historic Howell Courthouse as Concerts at the Courthouse enters its 21st season! This perennially popular program is a free series of concerts presented by the Livingston Arts Council throughout the summer, featuring rock, folk and blues entertainment at an outdoor family (and pet)-friendly venue. Pack a blanket or chair, and bring a snack or eat at one of Howell’s many downtown restaurants before enjoying the evening’s entertainment! This year’s series continues with the return of fan favorite Air Margaritaville! This group has been entertaining fans for over 20 years with their musical tribute to legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffet, and they are set to land in Howell to play all the great songs that you know by heart! Air Margaritaville is the premier Jimmy Buffet tribute band in the Midwest, and have been nominated for a Detroit Music Award for “Outstanding Tribute Band.” Put on your island attire, grab your favorite Parrot Heads, and enjoy the show! Concerts at the Courthouse runs every Friday night from June 28th – August 23rd. In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be cancelled – listen to WHMI 93.5 for updates or visit the Livingston Arts Council Facebook page. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

“Making a Career Vector Choice, Part 2”: Network 2 NewWork special session

Starting at 6:00pm following check-in 5:30-6:00 pm the evening of Tuesday July 23rd, you can take a scientifically developed career assessment and planning tool co-developed by a Calvin College grad, Bryan Dik, PhD, now a nationally recognized authority in vocational psychology, to help plan your preferred future. No waiting for an appointment with a guidance counselor or coach. First that evening you complete the tool online on your own laptop, tablet, or smartphone; Internet access will be available at the workshop location. Following a short break, you’ll get time in a small group with a career professional. This professional will answer questions, help you fully understand and know how to use the results, and give you instruction in how to plan a new career direction or make a shift from the career direction you’ve been on. Is there a cost? Yes, a modest one. There’s a special discounted fee arranged for the assessment and this group review session—just $30, a $200+ value! Such follow up sessions are vital to anyone seeking the benefit—the sense of their career direction--that any career assessment tool can offer. The great majority of high school and college students who do take such an assessment do not get such reviews because of the heavy workloads that school and college guidance counselors have. Those long out of school frequently pay $300-500 for such service. RSVP here on Eventbrite to reserve a spot. The $30 cost is paid at the door—cash, credit/debit card or check. Doing so in this manner rather than online helps keep the cost of the assessment and time with a career professional as low as possible. However, without an RSVP, the cost if you don't RSVP and just walk-in is $60. For those who wanting more in-depth insight and coaching from a career professional, follow-up one-on-one sessions can be arranged. Participants attending this workshop will receive discounted session rates of $60/hour (normally $120/hour for one-on-one coaching). This rate will be granted only for those who attend the July 16th "Find Your Preferred Career Vector" and/or 23rd events. - - - - - - - - - - FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) What are my transportation / parking options for getting to and from the event? The location, Redeemer Covenant Church, is easily reached by car from M-6 on the north, M-37 on the east, and US-131 on the west. There is plenty of parking space at RCC's campus, located just south of 68th Street on the west side of Hanna Lake Avenue SE--the white church building. What can I bring into the event? Your wifi-capable laptop, tablet or smartphone, curiosity, and an open mind to learn something new about yourself and others that will help everyone find fitting work, launch or relaunch, and sustain a preferred career future. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Send Ken Soper an email at [email protected] or text/call him, 616-813-4998. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, you do not--unless you RSVP on the day of the event, July 23rd.
