Running Ahrens Harrier Academy: Youth Running Camp

In northeast Pennsylvania there are very few opportunities for kids to get involved in running until they reach middle school.  There are youth leagues for baseball, football, soccer, and virtually every other sport but there is no such equivalent for the sport we love so much.  Running Ahrens Harrier Academy will introduce kids to running at an early age through fun, instructional training sessions and workouts.  We use the word "harrier" because it is another term for a runner, one that only die-hard running enthusiasts know.  We call it an "academy" because our goal is to train and educate athletes to be successful in their teenage years and beyond. Designed for ages 8-12, the Youth Running Camp is for anyone who enjoys running, wants to give running a try for the first time, or wants to improve their running for other sports.  No previous running experience is required!  Sessions will be educational and focus on the basic skills and techniques necessary to be able to run further and faster than ever before! Most of all, camp will be fun!  We want young athletes to experience the joy of running.  It is the foundation for success in nearly every other sport whether or not they fall in love with it. Sessions will include running (obviously) in addition to strength and flexibility activities, games, and running form drills.  Registered runners will: Get a head start as they prepare for the fall athletic season Complete the Running Ahrens Summer Youth Marathon (26.2 miles accumulated throughout the course of the 6-week program) Receive training notebooks to log their summer miles Complete the final 1.2 miles of their training on the final day of camp! Running Ahrens Youth Running Camp will take place on Tuesdays from June 25-July 30 from 9-11 A.M.  Camp sessions will be held at the Ackerly Little League fields in Clarks Summit and we will use the fields and Trolley Trail.   The cost for the camp is $100. Camp schedule changes due to inclement weather will be distributed via email and social media: facebook.com/runningahrenstc - https://twitter.com/runningahrenstc  QUESTIONS?
