Taste of Woodworking - Long Grain Cutting Boards Learn the basics of using the woodworking equipment available at Lansing Makers Network and leave with a project everyone will be jealous of!   This class is beginner focused and participants are not expected to have prior knowledge of woodworking.  The course is open to participants age 16 and over (participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult also enrolled in the class).   Note: There is a lunch break in the middle of this class whilie we wait for glue to dry. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch and hang out at the makerspace, or we'll happily suggest our favorite local dining options. Veteran Suicide Prevention Workshop


Suicide is the 10th-leading cause of death in the United States, and veteran suicide is a national concern. To prevent veteran suicide, we must help reduce veteran's risk for suicide before they reach a crisis point and support those veterans who are in crisis. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency is committed to creating and enhancing effective networks of support, communication and care in the communities where veterans live and work. The goal of this workshop is to identify needs, create a community focused plan, and organize efforts to help save lives and help those who have served to live health and productive lives. An outline for the day:  Check-in will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. with an assortment of breakfast items available.  Morning Session: The conversation will focus on who is in the communities providing resources and advocacy for suicide prevention to include the Veteran Community Action Teams, County Suicide Prevention Coalitions and the VA Suicide Prevention Coordinators. This session will prioritize what is currently being done, what has been successful in the past and what are the gaps/needs individuals see within their communities.  Lunch will be provided on site. Afternoon Session: The conversation will focus on addressing the gaps/needs that were identified in the morning session. The priority will be to develop a community-based action plan on what the participants can do as a collective group to strengthen their suicide prevention activities.  The deadline to register for this workshop is 5 p.m. on Monday, July 15th.

FAQs Is this a mandatory meeting?  Yes, one physician from each practice must attend both Regional Meetings, held in Spring and Fall of each year. One physician from each practice must also attend one of the two Biannual meetings held in January and June of each year. Other members of the practice, including clinical team leaders and administrators are strongly encouraged to attend. Mid-level providers are welcomed but their attendance cannot be substituted for physicians’ attendance.
