4th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk

The Pancreatic Cancer Walk is coming back on Saturday, October 19, 2019! Mark your calendars and make sure that you get signed up early for prime parking again this year! We are planning on the same weekend as the 43rd Folklife Festival to give those that come in town something to do after the walk! Every dollar donated to the walk & Lustgarten Foundation goes directly to Pancreatic Cancer Research! Join us and get inspired by other patients, survivors, and loved ones who are on the same journey. Together, we will raise awareness, increase research funding, and honor everyone impacted by the disease! By 2020, pancreatic cancer will surpass colorectal cancer and become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. This year alone, an estimated 56,770 people will be diagnosed and of them, 45,750 will pass away within the first year. The 5-year survival rate, just 9%. We are the answer! We are hope!

ART HISTORY LUNCHEON

The Art History Luncheon is a special event designed to fit into a workday lunch hour and take that time to educate, enrich and engage through focusing on a famous painter, painting or art period.  The artist featured in this year’s luncheon is Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Hannibal artist and retired HHS Art Instructor Pat Kerns will present a timeline biography, highlight select paintings by Toulouse-Lautrec and discuss the historical background of the French, aristocratic-born artist who became the first to elevate advertising to the status of fine art. Due to limited space, pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Tickets are $20 per person. Reservations are required by Mon., Sept 30. Purchase tickets here on Eventbrite, call the Hannibal Arts Council at 573-221-6545 or stop by 105 S. Main St. As Toulouse-Lautrec is a well-known French artist, the HAC Program Committee will choose an appropriate lunch menu to compliment the program’s focus on Toulouse-Lautrec. Water, tea or wine will be served with the meal.
